Hi. I plan to apply for the Houston Community College nursing program in 2010, however, I had a misdemeanor charge on my recording from when I was younger. I am wondering if someone can help me. Im in the process to petition for a Declaratory order but do I go ahead and do my fingerprinting as well? Or do I have to wait till I submit my DO... Which one I need to do first? How can I get my Application number after sending my application? Im having different answers. If someone can please let me know since the process is familiar to yall.
Thanks.

The Texas Bon website has all the answers. You can also call them toll free. So here is what I know. First get all court records from the county where the offense occurred, you will need to submit those with the petition, write a letter explaining what occurred and why and how you have changed it and made it better. Get your finger prints done it will need to be done anyway at some point, along with an FBI department of public safety check which can be done with fingerprinting. Make sure you use the place your school has set up to do the prints- we used morphotrust. Do it early send all with the fee required. Then wait for an answer the earlier the better can take as long as 3-4 months to get an answer. After a decision is made they will send u the order and any stipulation, you will sign it make yourself a copy and return it. Then you will receive the final order, same thing sign make copy and return to Bon. Hope this helps a little bit if you have specific questions let me know it go directly to the tx bon website..
GOOD LUCK!!

I am in the process of doing the same thing. I like to give myself some time in case it takes a little longer.
