hey guys-i'm new to this website and i need your help!

i'm applying to tarrant county, dallas county (brookhaven), and weatherford for fall '06. i am famillar with the reputation of the first two, but weatherford i'm not so sure about. i heard from another nursing student thery were on some sort of academic probation a few years ago (2000-2001). has anyone else heard anything about this or about how good their program is? i would really hate to attend a college whose program is not up to par. don't get me wrong, i'm in no way "bashing" weatherford college--i just want to ensure i am applying to a good program--help!

thanks,

Welcome to AllNurses.com.

I'm sorry, I wish I could answer your question, but I haven't heard anything.

One thought though, have you tried to call the Texas BON and ask about their program, and the possible problem in the past?

Even still, I'm sure if they had been put on acedemic probation before, 2000-2001 was a while back, and I'm sure they have their act together now.

I was actually thinking about applying there as well, but it would require a move, which isn't possible right now.

GOOD LUCK! Be sure to visit the DCCCD thread.

i am not familiar with it either. i'm sorry.

If you go on the Texas BON website there's a link to approved RN programs. It looks as though there's a designation for whether a school is on full approval, an approval w/warning or conditional and a few other choices. Weatherford is showing a full approval so that's a positive thing.

I think 4-5 years is enough time for them to have gotten their act together if there was a problem.

Here's the link to the BON website ftp://www.bne.state.tx.us/rnschools.pdf

Hope that helps.

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. WC is my 3rd choice, but as competitive as all of these schools are, we can't be too picky can we? I do want a good education though, that's why I'm checking them out.

Good luck,

Thanks again,
