Ok I really need some help. I'm a junior in high school and since the 7th grade i have wanted to become a nnp. I want to work in Louisiana but what if something happens and i would move to Texas, how would i still work? Also in college i know they say i have to become an rn, so do i get my bsn and will there just be classes for the neonatal special? Or will i just be an rn and just try to get a job in a NICU or a nursery. Like where would i work so that i will now be a neonatal nurse. Okay so now will i be working in whichever place you suggest for about 2-3 years? And when do I get my neonatal resuscitation certificate? Am I supposed to get it as soon as i graduate? Also when i get to go get my masters degree and graduate would you be able to explain the typical hours i would be working on as a nnp. Thanks to whoever can answer all the questions because they would be really helpful!

Simplified...
Become a RN, get your BSN (consider going to a BSN program in the first place), get at least 2 years experience in a NICU as an RN (sometimes hard to get a job in the NICU and realistically, it may be longer than 2 years), then apply to neonatal nurse practitioner school.
RNs don't specialize in undergraduate nursing school.
If you move to another state, you will be able to endorse your license (RN or advanced practitioner) to that state.
Your first step is to start college. Talk to your counselor about colleges with nursing schools and what you need to get into nursing school. You don't start nursing school right away, you will do 1.5-2.5 years of college courses first depending on the school. Don't look for corners to cut. Be warned that admission into nursing school will depend on how well you do in the prerequisite (required) courses. Strive to get all As.
Good luck!
