Need to go school to avoid paying loan

Published

I'm in a horrible position of needing to go back to school. I can't pay my loans right now and have used up all deferment time. I was thinking a Master's in Case Mangt from American Sentinel -only nationally accredited , but cheap. Or maybe a MBA Healthcare or Education from Western Governor's also, cheap, regionally accredited and maybe an education would be good for a part time job, or if I ever tired of case management. I know you really don't need a Masters of CM, need a CCM certification. Any thoughts? American Sentinel starts a little bit sooner.. Thanks for any advice

So you're going to avoid loans by adding more loans

Think twice before getting into more debt to avoid debt. Try contacting the mortgage companies to get the payments modified until you can increase your income, also let your son know he's going to have to get a new roommate, he should at least be covering the mortgage payment, he's an adult, if he isn't paying you rent, he would be paying someone else rent. Also, ask the student loan companies if you can at least pay the interest due on the loans, most companies will work with you in order to get some monies. Start looking for jobs in the area where you have a house, that way you won't be paying rent to someone else. You might need to trade in your car for something cheaper. Many agencies are looking for someone to work nights with pediatric cases, shouldn't be too stressful on the knees. If absolutely necessary, you might need to borrow from your 401k/403b. Hoping it all works out well for you!

Thanks all, I wish I could get a second job. I cant do 12 hour shifts any more because of knees, Educator is probably a bad idea, while I love to teach, I know I would be to harsh on papers. And you are right about the pay.I'm only a ER CM, no floor experience, can't travel yet No 401 k...used up all that when my mom was sick. I will never be able to own another house again- credit to far gone--less of a headache ! one of them is going up for sale and one for rent or sale not sure yet. Kid is going to move or get good roomates ==he has one month. Thanks again for all the thoughts

GOOD FOR YOU!!! :) Although you were asking someone else I can answer. I personally never got through to Dave, but he got through to me! I paid cash for both of my nursing degrees despite pressure to do otherwise because of him. :) No nursing school debt... and if I had known him prior to nursing when I was way younger, I would have never been in debt for anything except my house, which I will pay off sooner with snowballing than I otherwise would have done prior to Dave.

Yes, I called the Dave Ramsey show and spoke to Dave. I also attended a live event once. He is a great teacher and role model.
