sorry yall! I was trying to do things 90 mph! I am talking about for a gift. There was a company (Vermont bears) that had a bear wearing a straitjacket, but it was taken off the market because it offended too many people! We are just trying to come up with something creative and my brain just refuses to cooperate! Thanks!

It's not exactly creative, but you can never go wrong with a gift certificate for a nice restaurant or a favorite department store. That's what we usually go with.

It's not exactly creative, but you can never go wrong with a gift certificate for a nice restaurant or a favorite department store. That's what we usually go with.

* I assume it is a class gift? If it is and it is a big class, you can try Kaplan & Sadock's Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry 8th Edition (2 volume set). 8th edition just recently came out and so your instructor is not likely to have it. It is expensive so you need a big class to chip in.

* A subscription to "Journal Watch - Psychiatry" which is like $65.

* A gift certificate to the hospital's cafeteria where you all did the clinical.

* A nice big card with all of you signing it and have it frame.

* Tell your instructor that the whole class has decided to go into psych nursing :).

* Have your instructor autograph your psych textbook :)

ps. Yes, the bear with the straight jacket might put the instructor in a uncomfortable situation because you guys meant well but it might be offensive.

We all pitched in about $5 and gave an instructor a gift cert to Starbucks as well as coffee (she was an addict). We gave one instructor who loves pigs a stuffed pig with a nursing cap on it, and a diaper (we were working peds, so we managed to get a diaper). We've given a LL Bean bag with the person's name on it. We gave an instructor a mall gift cert. -Andrea

My psych teacher's favorite saying is "be a heart with ears" We chipped in and got a license plate frame and a T-shirt with that on it. She was completely tickled! If you teacher has a favorite phrase you could always put it on a license plate frame....
