I have a Littman Cardiology III for the adult ICU I used to work in and loved it! I think I could hear breath sounds from the next room... it's a bit pricey tho. I now work in a peds ICU and recently purchased a peds sized Ultrascope and love it to! I think I can hear just as much, in a much less expensive scope. It's also much lighter in weight, and you can customize how it looks :)
I also have the master cardiology. It is the nicest one that I have tried and it comes with a pediatric attachment which is kind of neat.

I have a master cardiology and I always get compliments on how nice it looks. I finished a preceptorship recently in the CVICU and my preceptor wanted to steal it from me haha
I was told Littmann was the best and I did a bunch of research. It seems like Littmann comes up on the internet all over the place. So I purchased a Littmann Lightweight II SE and it seems to have good sound so far. The cheapest price I found was about $40 at www.cherokeemedscrubs.com. I think I got mine in less than a week and it was free shipping too.
There are a bunch different brands to choose from but all the other nurses I work with seemed to favor the Littmann's the most. Hope this helps.
I think you should try some out & pick the one best for you.
I didnt jump on the Littmann bandwagon originally. I almost was going to get the cardiology III but ended up getting a WA Harvey Elite instead. Afterwards I ended up getting a Littmann Classic II for a backup and I am glad I didnt get it for my main scope. I hear SO much better with the WA. However many people seem to like the Littmanns so it's a decent brand.

Okay, I still have a few tests left to go but I am going to buy my stethoscope now. I don't use one in my current profession at all, so I was wondering if anyone has a favorite kind/brand?
