I have a research issue that I haven't had before.
The library at my school has little to no real resources. I found a journal article online that I would like to have a copy of, but of course, I can't afford to purchase an entire subscription to a professional journal in order to read it online (It was $176.00)
If I know the name of the journal, the volume, date, pages numbers, etc...what type of service is available to me so obtain the article?
Thanks!

Does your school have access to an online library, I know in the UK we get access via the internet to journals that the university has subscribed to.
Or we also have a system that if the library doesn't have the article you need they will get it for you for a nominal fee. Not sure if that's happens in the US though

Your library should be able to get the journal article (or any journal article) for you through the interlibrary loan service -- ask your librarian about it. Your library can request the particular issue of the journal (containing the article you want) and get it sent to them temporarily for you. It does take some time, and I forget whether there's a fee (but if there is, it's not much).

Check with your public library system as well. Ours offers extensive access to professional databases and on-line resources, perhaps even moreso than the college I recently attended.
Best of all, it is available from home.

Inter-library loan. Any legitimate library can order a copy of an article from just about any other library. Sometimes, they can do it for free. Other times, there is a small charge.
