Need advice

Published

I was called in yesterday and informed a cna told the administration that i made her to a lice treatment alone. She was terminated. So now I'm on suspension pending investigation over this. Of course it's not true, I was in the room with her and applied the medication she helped massage it in and rinsed it out and changed the linen and apprently took the shampoo home. I had no idea of the latter. I never left the room, we left together after it was done. She told admin she did the treatment and I told her to take what was left home. This was also a single app bottle and nothing was left.

I'm sick to my stomach over this, I'm heartbroken someone would lie blatantly about something like this, and terrified I'm going to be fired. I've never been in any kind of trouble before so this is really nerve wracking. Anyone with some advice, or what to expect from this? I have a meeting with HR in the am.

Seems to me, from what you are saying, that it is a bit strange that they would fire someone over that. Lice treatments are not going to harm anyone first of all, and second, the CNA has changed the story. So it might come down to she said this and you said that, but in the end, it isn't anything that someone should get fired for. The CNA for stealing and lying, maybe. I just don't get it. Seems like an overreaction to me.

Stay cool, tell the story as it happened and see what happens. If they fire you, you know that they are the ones with the issues and you didn't want to work there anyways.

Good luck. It is tough to stick to your guns when you are in that position. Hope it all turns out well for you.

a cna was fired for allegedly doing a lice tx by herself?

what did you write in your nn's?

anything that can help you?

all you can do is tell your side of the story (in writing as well).

if you know of any witnesses, get them involved.

what issue does admin have w/you?

that you supposedly delegated this to the cna?

just want to understand the story correctly.

let us know what happens?

I wasn't told much about it actually. Just that she was telling everyone she did the whole treatment by herself, and told a night shift cna that she was told she could take the rest of the shampoo home and treat herself *there was nothing left*. But my supervisor said the CNO was involved and she had to do all of this. I left a statement yesterday and then my supervisor called me today and said she wanted me to repeat the story to our HR person. Also in the cna's defense they kept saying she told the same story twice. I'm like ***? So if i tell the same lie 2 times that makes it true. She also tells me today, just tell the truth, i freaking did that. I dunno I'm very frustrated.

as far as admin, I've never even been written up in the 2.5 years I've been there, let alone cross paths with anyone in admin.

Can they not ask the patient that got the treatment, who was actually in the room when the treatment was done? This would tell who story is true. Doesn't it seem that simple, or am I missing something?

hi

tell the HR the truth about what happened. they can not fire you over somone's lie. than every cna will start making wrong statement because RN are there boss and they told them what to do and sometimes cna does not like that. so i hope HR does not fire you over stupid thing, but as far as advise go tell the truth. i am sure you will have your job. Trust god

The pt was confused, however the charge nurse saw us walk in and out at the same time. It's clear I was there the whole time.

And pp, I agree, I wonder if I did something to tick the CNA off and this was her way of revenge. I dunno. It seems pretty cut and dry to me, to the point I'm just really rattled by all of this investigation and stuff, over what seems to me to be cut and dry.
