Need Advice

I am hoping to eventually become an RN, the route I planned on taking is LPN than bridge to RN. I checked into MCC but the evening/weekend option doesnot start until August 2009. I was looking for other schools and I found Concorde Career Institute. Has anyone completed the LPN program and if so did you have any trouble bridging over. I am desperate for advice.:no::no::no:

i have heard that most of their classes do not transfer and they are very very expensive plus i dont think their pass rate is very high. But that's just what i heard

I am not familiar with MCC, but if it's a vocational program (rather than an accredited community college or university), you usually do need to use caution before you invest a ton of money and time.

To ensure you won't have to duplicate your work in the future, check with local universities to see if their classes are transferable to higher degrees in the future.

St Charles Community College offers and LPN program every January. You may be able to get in Jan 09. I think it's like a 15 month (or so) program. You can then bridge over to theirs or STLCC's nursing program. This is just my personal experience...I've considered the LPN route but found out that MANY of your credits don't transfer. Maryville will allow you to challange up to about 3 courses (9 - 12 credit hours). UMSL said that wouldn't transfer any. If you attend STLCC, I believe the bridge program is 3 semesters (the RN program is 4 semesters). With that being said, I did hear that St Chas LPN program was an excellent program and you may be able to start this Jan. Best of luck to you.

Just letting you know that MCC other wise known as Penn Valley is an accredited community college.

I actually graduated in May 2006 from the evening weekend LPN program at MCC-Penn Valley. It is a great program. I am now bridging to get my RN, but had to go elsewhere. The eve/wkd program is 17 months, compared to the FT day program which is just 1 year.

MCC is very much accredited. I graduated from the day program in December. It can get very difficult and my class was extremely cliqy, so things got rough but I made it through with two very good instructors. Mrs. Wiederholt and Mrs. Basara. Both were great and taught me most of what I know. MCC is known nation wide as a very good nursing program. if you go through their LPN and then bridge for their program you will be one of the best prepared new nurse (So Ive been told from nurses working alongside these new graduates) Im somewhat disappointed with the director of the LPN program but it may have been just a major clash in personalities who knows. I definitely recommend MCC.
