Need some advice

Ist off I have to say HI!

I havent been on here in quite a while....

Probaly because nursing school is kicking my hinney:lol2:

Well I am looking at bridging over for my RN and I have a few options....

I could go through my school that has a RN program BUT because I go to a private accelrated program it will cost me another almost 40k on top of the pretty penny I am paying for my LPN. It will also take me around 2 years. LPN's dont have to go through the whole program but pretty much.

OR

I can go through INdiana state for the LPN-BSN. I know they have a distance learning program but I am thinkning of maybe just moving there to save cost.

I dont have to work right after school and I would love to get my BSN but I am just having problems finding people that have went through there program(I have looked at the distance learning section)

I wanted to move to Texas after school put I trying to weigh my options.

Does anyone know of any other LPN-BSN programs?

Hi,

Aren't there any other options in your area? CCs often have bridge programs and at ours its only 2 semesters and about $5,000. If you do decide to move somewhere make sure before that you are accepted. Best of luck to you, Jules

There is LOTS of CC's in my area my thing is that if I stay in my area I will just get my AAS(which is fine) but I am really thinking I want to get my BSN.

For some reason with the BSN programs here if you have your ADN first they don't make you have as many pre-reqs. It seems that in most cases it is not only quicker/cheaper to do it that way but you can work as a RN while you are doing your BSN.

Where in Texas are you planning on moving? I know of a couple LPN-BSN programs in DFW.

Tarleton State University (Stephenville, Texas) has an LVN-to-BSN program that is 2 years long. My coworker got accepted to this program with a 2.8 grade point average.

This school is located 80 miles southwest of DFW, Texas.

DO you have any other info on it? I went to there site and it seems pretty cool I am going to call them in the morning. My GPA is a 3.0 last session and I am hoping for a few points better this one.

Is it taking 2yrs w/o anything? Has she done some classes anywhere else? I know because I am in a accelrated program in a private school I am sort of worried=)

Yep, Tarleton State which is a bit out in the country south west about 1 hour from Fort Worth. I also believe Southwestern Adventist University has an LVN-ADN with option to keep going on for the BSN, but I'm not 100% sure. I would post on the Texas Nurses site, they might be able to tell you. Most bridge programs want 1 year of nursing experience though, just to keep in mind. Good Luck with your move!

Oh yeah... I live in the Seattle area now, was in DFW for a few years.

i got accepted to tarleton state lvn to bsn program but failed algebra and had to back out. you must have 54 hour complete in order to apply and this leaves 9 hours you can complete during the program. the application deadline has come and gone though... i had a 2.8 at the time i was accepted and did not have to any of that testing junk... it is a far drive for me 100 miles round trip way out in the country, but thats ok cause i'm a country girl. now southwestern adventist.. very expensive university right down the road from me. i have been told they have a new lvn to bsn program, someone told me they are attending this program and love it . i went to the website and they are doing away with the adn program ... the texas nurses site is not up to date there is plenty of info that needs to be corrected on there...good luck to you ...i thought you were already like on your way to texas...

Do you think I could live in DFW and commute there?
My coworker lives in Arlington (a DFW city), and commutes to Tarleton State every day. It is about an 80 mile drive, but away from the flow of traffic.

I am going to defintly look into them.....the commute doesnt sound to bad!

I know this sounds silly but.....

I dont want to wait a year!!!! I am in a situation where I can just go back to school after I am done with my LPN and I am planning on working(hopefully baylors or partime) but I want to right away get into school.

Anyone know if most places require a year experience?
