Hi Everyone,
Well let me start by saying I have never failed at anything I have started in life and I dont want it to be the NCLEX.
I graduated in 2007 and I attempted the NCLEX 3 times. Most of my items were above passing except for a few each time. I already have a child and responsibilities so I just took a regular job and didn't think about the NCLEX again.
I'm in SC and we have a 3 yr. limit on taking the NCLEX but NC does not, so I have registered with them and I can retake it.
Since I have been out of school for so long do you think this would even be possible for me to do? I pretty much remember most ever thing I learned in school b/c I have re read most all my textbooks since just to keep it fresh.
Or what advice could you give me on preparing for it since I have been out of school for so long. I had a friend who took it 7 times b/f she finally passed and she was right at the end of her 3 yr limit. She took Kaplan 3 times and even tried a private tutor and finally after the 3rd kaplan she passed. She said it just clicked and she wasn't scared anymore.
Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nick

Even with so many years out of school you can take and pass the exam. you definitely need to reflesh on your content and practice as many questions since its been so long since you graduated. i dont know materials you are using but its alot of free things posted on this website that has proved helpful to many. what review course are you using? all the best..stay focused is the key word..you can do.
Hi Diana,
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
A friend of mine just graduated Clemson University in December and took all 265 Q's in Feb and he passed, so I am using his kaplan RN book for review right now along with his current text books.
I was going to sign up for the kaplan myself for the online Q bank and resources but I have seen a lot of people on here taking the Hurst review course. I am probably going to take it as well. There are a lot of study plans and resource materials on here, so I am definitely going to utilize all this information.

Nick. I know how you feel. I have taken NCLEX times. I graduated in 2010. Right after I graduated from nursing school i lost mu fiance to leukemia so needless to say my life has been hard since. I hate the thought of taking NCLEX again but i am. Just started back studying the other day. I am doing the Hurst review right now. Thinking about purchasing questions from learning extension. It has good reviews on here. You can do this. Just keep reading and doing questions. There is alot of helpful info on this site. We can pass NCLEX!
You are welcome, iam glad to help....:)

I know the feelings of retaking nclex. I passed at my 3rd attempt so you can do it. Focus and forget what is out there or what ppl will/are saying. There's nothing impossible when you believe. Do a lot of practice qts daily. set a target # of qts daily. I did 400-500 qts daily X 2wks. Make sure to read all rationales whether you got the ans right or wrong. It helps a lot. Good luck and keep working at it. You will do just fine. My prayers to you.
Hi blynn9173
Yes we can pass it! I am starting the Kaplan review online tonight and when is finished I will be starting the Hurst review. What do you think of the Hurst review so far? I have read a lot of good reviews on it.
Also what is the learning extension? I haven't seen anything about it.
My goal is to take it toward the end of July I just want to good months of studying and test prep.
Also sorry to hear about your fiance I know that had to be hard.
Best of luck with your studies and stay with it :yelclap:
I wanted to do Kaplan but i cant afford it. I did Hurst over a year ago and I really liked it. I still have the course book from Hurst. I am going to go over content that way. I am going to purchase the questions through learning extension soon. One of my professors highly recommended it. I just feel i have forgot alot since i have been out of school so long. I just hope i can remember it all. Good luck studying! We can do this!

Ive been out of school too for awhile Im going over Hurst until the end of this month for content then doing questions and must know info up until my test. NBJ6879 ur gonna pay for kaplan and hurst? Really expensive. I plan to conquer this Monster by the end of July
Hi Studyinghard2bLPN
Yes I am... I have already paid for Kaplan but they had a $120 discount last week plus I went online and found a coupon for 10% off for a total of $300, but they also have flex pay, so its only costing $100 a month.
As for Hurst its $300 as well but all at once so I am going to start it after kaplan. Yea I was also thinking the end of July myself.

Hey nick, how are you doing with your studying?? I too graduated a few years ago (2006) and failed the test 2x. I then ventured off to another career, but everyone keeps on saying how I should go back and there's a big part of me that thinks I can pass this thing. I have not kept up with reading and I am at a loss on how to start. Any suggestions?? I feel like so much time has passed by that I need to go back to anatomy and physiology. I don't know if a big partof me is just scared of failing again and that is why I don't commit. Work always seems to get in the way of things and well I don't know.
Any suggestions??
