Published

so im 20 years old about to get an associates degree from QCC in the spring with a 2.9 gpa. i took a&p 1 and 2 which i got a c and b- and also most of pysch and other regular pre reqs while going to micro in the summer. I am stressing so much because i have no idea if i have what it takes to get into a nursing school because Im just over doubting myself and thinking i should be alot further then i already am. I heard adelphi only has a 3.o to get in so please anyone in NYC can you help me

You have to speak to the counselors at the individual schools, honestly, NYC is very competitive and I don't know that a 2.9 is going to cut it. You should have really at least a B if not an A in your science pre-requisites. If you can I would try and do over any C's you may have and maybe take any other core classes in order to boost your GPA.

But most importantly, talk to the counselors at the schools you wish to apply to.

When looking at the minimum GPA for programs, please remember that that is the lowest GPA the school with accept but that most applicants are all above that GPA. You have to think about the others you are competing against, and I don't think a 2.9 will really cut it. I hate to be so cut and dry, but to be competitive for most programs you are looking at at least a 3.6 depending on where you are.

Cs in the core sciences will be an issue. I would definitely recommend possibly retaking them for a higher grade to become more competitive.
