Hi,
I'm stuck in a dilemma please help.
So the nursing program that I'm interested in requires A&P course and I'm not sure if I should take A&P at my local community college or take A&P at the nursing school and just study for the TEAS. What I'm wondering is if taking A&P will help me when I take the TEAS.

From what I understand from reading here and from doing some practice TEAS tests, A&P is definitely a component of the test. Science knowledge - especially of anatomy, chemistry, and biology - will be very helpful. If I hadn't just taken chemistry and biology, there would have been things I didn't know on the practice exams I've taken. Most people recommend taking the TEAS after you've done at least one semester of A&P. That being said, the community college nursing program that I hope to attend requires the TEAS for admission, but A&P I is taken during the first semester of the program along with all the fundamentals classes, and A&P II is taken second semester with the applications classes, so people must manage to score well enough on the TEAS using review books and practice tests.
As far as where to take the class, I would look at the cost and convenience. The nursing school probably has many students transfer credit in from the community college, so if that's cheaper and offers more scheduling options (I'm taking my classes on Sundays, for example), I'd go with the CC. One of our nursing schools here actually has the CC teach its A&P and Micro classes for them on the nursing school campus, so it's good for everyone.
You also may get more answers in the pre-nursing forum. Good luck!

A&P and chemistry will both help on the TEAS.
