Need advice with my NMC

Published

Hi guys. So here's the thing...I've gone through processing my NMC and I've sent all the documents that was asked for and now I'm just waiting for my decision letter. But my worry is this, I only got 2168 hours of clinical practice, a few hours short from the required minimum of 2300 hours. What are the chances that I would qualify for the ONP, and what are the chances that I would be rejected? The agency I'm working with told me to just submit the requirements, but I still can't help but be worried because I don't know anyone that I can ask who actually had the same dilemma but was still able to get qualified for the program. Please help.

Hi guys, just discovered this forum and I just registered. I am also awaiting September '14 deployment. I was told by CTN, Sept 18 because classes start on the 22nd. I am also applied to CTN via IPAMS. I already had my dl since last November '13. I can share my experiences just let me know. I am also going to Addenbrookes Hospital. I am in Manila.

Wow. Congratulations! You already have your DL so that means your really going to Addenbrookes already. Unfortunately, I'm still not sure since I don't have my DL yet. Mind if I ask, how long did you process your visa and medical after you got your DL?

hi winslix! Why werent you not deployed earlier than sept? I know someone who had his dl last year, like you, that was deployed by ctn earlier this year.

Visa has not been processed yet. I'm sure you also received a pdf file from IPAMS, outlining the steps. The IPAMS medical (First week May) itself took 4-5 hours, but the results of the tithers did not come out until after 3 weeks. Then, referees had to be validated, then Addenbrooke's representative have to communicate with you (done last friday) just to touch base about your professional history, etc., after all these, there is another TB medical at an accredited UK clinic in Makati that I will be scheduled soon. So you see, there are some pre-requisites to go by before you could proceed to the next step. I am guessing after the TB test, Visa app follows. I was told that I will be with the September batch since classes start Sept 22, 2014. The NMC DL i remember took the longest. It would help if you know someone in the UK to check it for you. NMC just keeps asking for document after another and when they finally was satisfied, my passport expired, so they asked for another certified copy. For those waiting still for their DL, I would not be optimistic in making the September 2014 batch.

I really have no idea. Actually, I applied to CTN after I received my DL last year, November 2013. I went to IPAMS for a late february 2014 interview with CTN. CTN Manager went to Cebu i think the following month for further interviews. We were told about our acceptance by mid-April. I started with the process May. I am assuming your friend was sponsored by CTN for his DL and CTN started the other steps, i.e., securing a school, etc so when your friends DL came out, a lot of work was already done or at least initiated.

hi winslix, do u mind if you tell us what happened to your dl application?and why it took so long.

thanks

No problem. The NMC should take only an average 3 months after receiving all documents to make a decision. NMC will not update you unless they want further docs or you are missing something. Notwithstanding the screw up by post office not delivering (which I resent again this time never using our post office ever), and NMC claiming they have not recev'd one of my document, which I had proved they were wrong because I sent it via DHL and I showed them receipt that it was received and later they found the document they misplaced. Midway thru the 3 month process, NMC wrote me stating they will be revising their policies on approving overseas trained nurses and all applications will be put on hold for 60 days until they are finished with the revision. Boom!! This was January 2013. After the 2 month delay, I contacted them and they told me the revision is finished and all applications are now being processed again, this was around May 2013. FYI, there will be a particular agent assigned to your application so when someone replied to you via email, that will be the person to speak to. After 2 months, I received a letter from them that my passport only has less than 6 months before expiration and i need to furnish a new one, Boom again!! Finally I received the DL November 2013. I used a friends address in the UK for NMC to correspond with me as I dont trust our post office. So my friend sends all NMC related letters to me that he receives via DHL. I did all on my own without CTN as I dont know CTN yet at the time until I started looking for an agency with a DL already on hand. CTN stated they will reimburse me the IELTS and NMC fees. I believe it is a bit faster if you do the NMC on your own than having IPAMS or CTN do it for you. Let me know how I can be of help. I am okay with phone or email communication as I rarely go online. Let me know.

Now I'm a bit worried. :(

To those who are on the same boat, waiting for their NMC DL or just anxious, frustrated, re: application process, let us all fellowship and share our experiences. Let us create a group and if you are in manila we can get together and vent over coffee.

Any nurses from the US have any luck getting registered?

Now I'm a bit worried. :(

thank you very much winslix, im really worried and anxious at this time, my stage two docs were scanned last May 19, im halfway the three month period and still, no words yet from the NMC.

Another thing is the NMC published the changes on the registration process effective oct 2014. Though, we still have choices, since we submitted our stage two applic before oct.

Yeah, I heard about the new updates re: NMC requirement. Let me know how I can help you so you can get a better perspective of what you are going through so I can share a few tidbits on what transpired with mine.

Thanks for sharing what you've gone through as well as the current status of your application with your employer. By the way, congratulations for finally receiving your cert of sponsorship! The email has not got in to my mailbox but it is fine, no worries. We're glad to have come across such a generous colleague like you.
