I'm using the National Council's practice exams and doing the online Hurst Review exclusively but I'm finding that the Hurst lady's advice of "If you can only do one thing...." doesn't really apply to the NCSBN's practice q's.
Is anyone else using these two sources and having the same issue? NCSBN q's are completely different than any other I've seen. I wonder if I've wasted my time doing them.

I am studying with Hurst Review and Kaplan. I use the Kaplan decision tree for test taking strategies. So there is not just one way to evaluate the question. The question must be broken down for items that say first, or priority. That is I look at abc, maslows, acute or chronic, etc. I hope this helps you out. Post the question and maybe it can be broken down specifically.

I used NCSBN an other sources....not at the same time though.
I would suggest going through one review at a time, perhaps?
I started with Kaplan Review, and used NCSBN, but at separate intervals...I utilized "the decision tree model" at times when reviewing different sources, as well as LaCharity's approach as well.
NCSBN is much more like the NCLEX, and reviewed it two weeks before the boards. It helped with the increasing complex questions that I had during the exam.
Just wondering if you found if Hurst review is enough.

I used hurst and ncsbn on my nclex and passed it on my first try with 80 questions. Hurst helped me a lot. I don't like the ncsbn so I didn't do all the questions. I wouldn't passed nclex without hurst.

congrats
Did you memorize the hurst pdf for drugs? I am reviewing over the hurst review videos, and am working on drawing the core content. I did not emphasize the 5th day material at all. How much should you work on those items?

Those5TH day materials are just as important as the rest of the lecture, trust me.Medications, cranial nerves, pharmacology, infection and the rest of them cancome very handy during your test
Thanks. I will go over them.

i used hurst. i just took the nclex on monday and passed! i didn't use any real stretegy for answering questions (besides ABCD's). i definitely think hursts core content helped me alot, but every time i tried to answer a question as "if i can only do one thing what would it be" i got it wrong! just like they said something about "if the nurse is not able to fix the problem you should call the physician".. but that advice made me miss practice questions too.. alot of times there was still at least one intervention or assessment you should do first. i found that if i just read the question and used my own knowledge and judgement on what i think is correct then more often i got the question right vs using some universal rule for answering questions. i used NCSBN and those questions were very hard for me at first!
5th day material on infection control, PPE, lab values, and stages of development were what i focused on
