4 NCs This Month! Can I do it?

Published

Okay here is my proposed schedule (note I haven't scheduled NC 3 or 7 yet).

1/10 - NC 1 (I got this down pat)

1/16 -NC 2 (a work in progress, but going VERY well)

1/24 - NC 7 (seems pretty straightforward,from others reviews)

1/31 - NC 3 (I know it covers the most material, but I think it's best to take this before the remaining exams) or NC 6 if I chicken out on three.

Next month, I will start off with Analyzing Lit (Clep), Humanities (Clep) in the first week, and figure out the rest then. I really want to be CPNE eligible by March, and go to Tina's March workshop.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

If you feel you're ready, then why not? A good gauge for me were the EC practice exams, which I seriously recommend.

The most I did in a month was three -- I did NC4, NC7, then NC5 in September. :)

Thanks, Lisa. I'm not sure if NC3 will be really doable this month; I'll just have to see if I can get a grip on the material. But 1,2,7 are going down.

I absolutely LOVE having this motivation to keep me moving. It feels so great especially after being at a stand still for almost a year. My original goal was to graduate by May 2007, now I'm not going to put that restriction on myself but I will say that I'm going to be an RN is "08.

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

i put some motivation on my sig line . i am constantly on this site and see "i will be a rn" every time i post...

Specializes in everything, mostly surgery.

Can you guys tell me why you aren't taking the nursing concept exams in order??? I'm going to take the first one Thursday. Would anyone say it is hard or not? What should I expect?

i am taking them out of order to arrange them around my other school assignments. i deliberately put nc 3 and nc 5 last because for me they might pose a challenge.

Absolutely. TAKE THE EC PRACTICE EXAMS. For all. Do not wait until you think you are "ready"--use them as part of your study. I always got in the 60's; doesn't matter. Study ALL the questions and ALL the answers and understand why you got each question correct or incorrect.

(PS if you don't like reviewing stuff on the computer screen--utilize your keyboard's Print Screen button & paste to Word .doc)

I also utilized LWW's Straight A's Maternal & Neonatal for #3--I'd used it during my clinicals back in "brick&mortar" RN school. This is the newer edition:

I did 4 NC's in December '07, passed w/ A's, and am scheduled to take Tina's workshop in Feb '08. Good luck to both of us!

Specializes in LTC, Research.

Dream_Nurse2b,

 You go girl! That is some kickass motivation. But I think my brain would melt down if I tried that.

Lisa

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL ON YOUR NC's AND CPNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
