Passed the NCLEX on my fourth attempt today! So ecstatic to finally get the NCLEX monkey off my back. I can't thank this site enough for giving me constant motivation. Everyday I would check for new posts to hear other members stories on how they passed whether it was their first time or fifth time taking it. So I have to keep up tradition and tell my story because I know there is someone out there that is struggling with NCLEX or having a massive anxiety attack thinking about passing the first time they take it. Well I'm here to tell you THAT YOU CAN AND WILL PASS!!!
First time I took the test all I did was 2,000 nclex questions and thought that was enough to pass because my instructor told me if I did that amount of questions that I would be alright. Boy was I wrong. Had 125 questions and failed.
Second time I tried Kaplan and did all their q banks and video questions and did even worse and failed at 75
Third time I got back to basics and read the Saunders 5th edition front to back and did the Lippincott questions and did all 265 questions and failed. Took me 6 hours
Fourth time I knew I was so close to passing on my last attempt and just had to get real with myself and focus on all my weaknesses. I combed through my fundamentals book and my med surge book and read from front to back. When i came across a disease i would make myself explain that disease without looking at the book and say the priority interventions out loud. I also did this with Saunders. I ordered the NCSBN learning extension and thought the questions were pretty good, especially the q bank.
Any topic or question i had trouble on I would write it down in a notebook and go over it first thing in the morning every day so i would know it. Priority and infection control is a must know on this test. If im not mistaken i think those questions have a lot of weight to them as far as scoring goes on the nclex.
It took me 6 hours and 265 questions again on the fourth go round but I had a 50/50 feeling that I passed this time. Towards the end of the test I felt i was getting a lot of the questions correct and I know for sure the last two questions i had I got correct so that gave me a little confidence into thinking that I passed.
Came home not really knowing what to expect and did the pvt trick and I got the good pop up! Thanked God and started calling everybody i knew because i was so happy.
The NCLEX is the last hurdle to becoming an RN and it is a tough one but you can and will pass if you give it your all in studying and keep on trying no matter how many times you fail. If you fail be real with yourself and don't repeat the same mistakes and focus on your weaknesses. Everybody uses different nclex study material so just find what works for you until you pass. Took me four times to find the exact combo to pass.
I just wanna thank GOD from the bottom of my heart because I know without God's guidance I couldnt have done it.
Ill stop babbling now and on that note study hard and pray harder. Your time is coming soon to where you slaughter the beast they call NCLEX!!!!
