NCLEX Takers Support Thread

If you will be taking NCLEX and would like to be prayed for, can we start a fourm for this. I know that some folks are not into prayer and I don't want to offend anyone, but I sure need it!

Hi, I paid online. I called them today but I am going to call the board of nursing tommorrow and see what is taking so long. I have heard so many people say they get their ATT within 2 days.

make sure that you check your junk email! your ATT comes via email if you register online and you won't receive via regular mail!

Thanks! Will do. I have also been going on Pearsonvue to see if it will let me sch. a date and it will not.

ned2bnurse and star313,

Thanks for your kindness. I took the test today and it is done. I really am not sure if I passed or not; it shut off at 85 questions (I know that means nothing) but it is a relief to have it in the past, and it was a great comfort knowing that there are people out there rooting for you. How nice to have this community of people. I really needed it at this time. I am praying for all you NCLEX test takers tonight. We can all make it, with study, faith and prayer.

The first time I applied to test, I registered with Pearson, paid the $200,

and waited almost a month for my ATT because it said it'll take atleast

4 wks. I waited some more, check my e-mails and still no ATT. I went back on the site and re-read everything to make sure I did everything right. I found out that I needed to apply with the BON first. I gave them the necessary Docs (school transcript) and payed $40, which is a one time deal in HI. After doing so I got my Att in couple of days then I could schedule my testing. My 2nd time testing I didnt need to register with the BON, only Pearson and pay for the 2nd test.

Just sharing my experience.

I will say a prayer for you. I know the feeling of waiting to find out the results. It feels like an eternity. I am so sorry to hear about your house too!

Does anyone really understand the CAT test for NCLEX. Does it mean if you get at least half or over questions right then you pass? I am doing Kaplan and I am getting on the QBank no less than 60% and no higher than 85%. My cummulative average is 67%. Just wondering of those that passed what your cummulative average was on Qbank if you did that?

My understanding of the CAT on the NCLEX is it doesn't go by how many you get right or wrong. You will get half correct and half incorrect. The correct is scored and the level that you scored will determine if you pass or fail the NCLEX. It starts out easy and as you answer them correctly they get harder, when you get one wrong it gets easier. When the computer has determined your level, the test shuts off.

I am new to this, but I absolutely need to be prayed for. Just took the NCLEX and found out I didnt pass. Woooaaa what a blow to the heart, but I'm not giving up and I believe in the power or prayer. I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me.

CAT works like this:

Exam starts off with a question that is about mid-level but at the magical passing line. Get that question correct and you go above the passing line, get it wong the question gets easier but now you are below the passing line. So getting one correct below the passing line doesn't help other than to raise you up hopefully back above the passing line. The goal with the NCLEX is to get more above the passing line and stay there.

Once you get above the line and keep above it you can actually get some wrong and it not count against you since you were still above the magical passing line.

EX:

#1 get it correct - at or above the passing line

#2 get it correct - difficulty increase and above the passing line

#3 get it correct - even higher above passing line

#4 get it wrong - drops difficulty but still above passing line

#5 get it wrong - difficulty drops again but still above passing line

#6 get it correct - difficulty increases again but still not where you were with #3

#7 get it wrong - difficulty drops again

See how getting 3 wrong out of 7 and it not really count? The goal is to be in the higher level (critical thinking) questions and stay there. Of course there is no way to know if you are. But it's a safe bet to say that it if yoy get a lot of alternative, choose all that apply, etc... type questions you are in the higher level.

The computer keeps testing you until it decides that with a 99.9% certainty that if it kept asking you questions you will stay above or below the passing line. The minimum that this can occur is with 75 questions or the max of 265.

If your testing that well with Kaplan you will be fine with the NCLEX. But be prepared NCLEX is a totally differnet beast and you WILL leave feeling like you failed it. Remember though that is a good thing... usually means you were in the high level questions.

GOOD LUCK!!!:yeah:

That makes sense to me. With this Kaplan it has helped me to critcally think to answer the upper level questions correctly. Oh and I called BON and they ahve to resubmit my stuff so I can test.

I 100% believe in prayer! Keep praying and practicing questions and you will pass the NCLEX!
