NCLEX Takers Support Thread

Published

If you will be taking NCLEX and would like to be prayed for, can we start a fourm for this. I know that some folks are not into prayer and I don't want to offend anyone, but I sure need it!

CAT works like this:

Exam starts off with a question that is about mid-level but at the magical passing line. Get that question correct and you go above the passing line, get it wong the question gets easier but now you are below the passing line. So getting one correct below the passing line doesn't help other than to raise you up hopefully back above the passing line. The goal with the NCLEX is to get more above the passing line and stay there.

Once you get above the line and keep above it you can actually get some wrong and it not count against you since you were still above the magical passing line.

EX:

#1 get it correct - at or above the passing line

#2 get it correct - difficulty increase and above the passing line

#3 get it correct - even higher above passing line

#4 get it wrong - drops difficulty but still above passing line

#5 get it wrong - difficulty drops again but still above passing line

#6 get it correct - difficulty increases again but still not where you were with #3

#7 get it wrong - difficulty drops again

See how getting 3 wrong out of 7 and it not really count? The goal is to be in the higher level (critical thinking) questions and stay there. Of course there is no way to know if you are. But it's a safe bet to say that it if yoy get a lot of alternative, choose all that apply, etc... type questions you are in the higher level.

The computer keeps testing you until it decides that with a 99.9% certainty that if it kept asking you questions you will stay above or below the passing line. The minimum that this can occur is with 75 questions or the max of 265.

If your testing that well with Kaplan you will be fine with the NCLEX. But be prepared NCLEX is a totally differnet beast and you WILL leave feeling like you failed it. Remember though that is a good thing... usually means you were in the high level questions.

GOOD LUCK!!!:yeah:

:prdnrs:

Thank you so much for the information. Did you use Kaplan as well?

I called Pearson this morning and they still dont have all my info in. They said it could take up to 4 weeks to receive my ATT.

Pearson said that the first time I called; after a week and a half i called back and they finally said they hadn't received my info from the board of nursing; so then I had to call the board of nursing for my state and they said they would re-send the info.

I just wanted to ask if anyone could put test taking strategies into an easier form? I have read the kaplan strategies and although they seem like they would be very helpful, I am just having a hard time really understanding how to use the strategies for the questions. It seems confusing. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, I called BON this moring and I recieved my ATT by this afternoon. I got to sign up and sch. a date. I can't wait to have this test over. I will be praying for you!

I would like to join this forum. I Know that prayer can help us through this. just believe and have faith as little as a mustard seed and you will pass. I pray that God will bless us all, help us to understand the material that we study, help us to put it together, open up our knowledge and understanding on the day of testing so we could pass. My God will never bring us this far to leave us.. Just have a little faith with me. God bless us all.

I agree with you. We should really believe in HIM.. It's in God's time and plan. we should patiently wait..Patience is a virtue as they say..I'm also prayig for all of us. when are you going to take your exam? Is it your first time? Me, it's my second time already.

Hey all. Thanks for all of your prayers and support! The waiting game is insanely cruel. Not to mention painful.

I took my exam yesterday and believe it or not, 75 questions! I was like holy Crap! I'm screwed! I was asking the proctor to let me take the exam again. On Monday, when i was suppose to be relaxing for the test on Tuesday, I spent some time here at my local parish. Meditation and spiritual guidance really helped me through this "dark" hour. I know what everyone is going through and i can completely relate.

For an update. I just got my LIC!!!! I'm so excited! I'm SOOO great full to everyone here and their prayers! It is individuals like yourselfs that make Nursing such a rewarding career and lifestyle! Even thou i've never meet anyone from this site, i know that you are all family to me because of the bond one shares from going to Nursing school.

Thank you for all of your support and your words of encouragement!
