any nclex takers in october-share study tips

hi everyone

i m taking the exam in oct. oct first week to be exact. anyone taking in oct can share their tips and study plans. lets support each other

to october support group,

i'm done with the nclex...and still waiting for the result which would probably take a month (or less, hopefully). i would like to share with you my experience during the exam. here it goes...

i arrived at the pearson testing center around 8:20 am. i'm the 3rd among the test takers to be in the center. the staff gave me #3 of course, and handed over this info sheet about the nclex rules & regulations. i read it and waited for the first 2 before me, who are still reading the info. the staff asked if anybody's ready to be admitted and i raised my hand. so in short, i was admitted first and after the fingerprint, photo and signature, a staff brought me to the first computer (#2). i'm thankful because it was in the corner, that there wasn't anybody on my left but the wall. i started the test with the tutorial and so on. i find the questions a bit difficult (but i'm sure i get the 1st question right!) and the shocking part is this... at around q # 73 (i think) the screen suddenly turned blue. oh my! i thought to myself:"have i finished 75q?" i'm pretty sure i haven't". then a question appeared in the screen if i want to take a break because i have been testing for 2 hours already. imagine!!! 73 q's for 2 hours. i turned down the offer, and continue. omg!!! of course, i'm a bit uneasy thinking how am i gonna finish the remaining 192 qs for 4 hours. well, i just focused again, still the same pace (as slow as i can but being sure that i don't miss anything in the q's.) that is why, i didn't pay attention anymore on how many questions i've been into already. but what i do know is that, it finally shut off before 90 (somewhere between 87+....).

i left the place, thanking god and wanting to cry. i have done my best and i just leave it all up to him. i believe that god was there, helping me to take it slow. it's like patting me in the back and telling me to just take it 1 at a time...that i don't have to rush to finish the 265 q's but concentrate on the

when i prayed this morning, i read in psalm 27:13-14 i believe that i shall see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living. wait for the lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the lord!i felt that moment the lord is telling me, my result will arrive today....and lo and behold, around 10.40 am, the mail man arrived. i got the letter....that says.... i passed!!!! praise be to god, his ways are always awesome. thank you lord!!! and to all october test takers, just hang in there. keep the faith. god bless you all... thank you allnurses.com and thank you october support group and the random facts thread. it has been my companion during my review. good luck to all!!!

my nclex experience...

i started processing to ca brn on nov '07. my att arrived on march 24, 2008. i started reviewing 1st week of august while at the same time set a schedule with pearson vue for nclex on nov 12, 2008. but by the end of september, i really felt that i'm ready for the exam...i rescheduled my exam on october 21 in hongkong.

i did not join any live review. i used kaplan nclex-rn 2007-2008 edition with cd, exam cram nclex-rn 2nd edition by wilda rinehart & others, nclex-rn 250 new-format questions 2nd edition by lippincott williams & wilkins, basic concepts in pharmacology- a student's survival guide by janet l. stringer (very helpful & very organized presentation of meds), nclexreview.ph online (but wasn't able to finish the 80% across the board average..i only reached until 74%), ncsbn learning ext online for 3 weeks and nursing med-surg books, pharmacology, maternal & child health etc. for contents & most of all the random facts thread here in allnurses.com (very helpful indeed!):up:

i answer practice questions everyday like 300 q's or so a day, reading contents whenever i encounter difficult topics. ncsbn online has a good and organized presentation of the topics. kaplan is also a lot of help in critical thinking strategies. what helps me alot i think is, the old style...note-taking. i have a notebook binder with me, and write every important points that i learned and picked up. i studied almost everyday, min 3 hours a day and maximum 12 or more.:typing most of all, i pray a lot and lift in prayers this nclex (from reviewing to the exam day itself) to god.

i got my letter from ca brn today. the letter actually was dated october 24 and the us mail stamp oct 27 and reached my place nov 5.

well, all the efforts and hard work paid off and i thank the lord god almighty for this early christmas gift. may god be praised!
