any nclex takers in october-share study tips

i m taking the exam in oct. oct first week to be exact. anyone taking in oct can share their tips and study plans. lets support each other

I am studying hard but I wish I had more time. Only 4 days left till I take the NCLEX. I'm currently taking Question Trainer 6 of Kaplan. I have about 50 questions left (I've been taking breaks every 50 questions). I did so bad on the first 5 QT's , I'm hoping I do better this time around. Anyone else here doing the online Kaplan practice tests??

Yeah, I did all 7 QTs in less than a week. So tiring... so many questions. LOL. It's a good practice tho. Good luck to us. Im taking mine on Monday. We can do it.!!!!! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

May I ask how you did on the QTs? I just finished #6 and only got 64%. I thought I was going to do better. This is so discouraging. I am trying to stay positive though!!!

I didn't do very well on the last 4 QTs only 54-57% but got 73% on all the first 3 QTs. I often narrowed it down to 2 options but pick the wrong one instead. :D and I'll be like "Damn it!!! :banghead:" :chuckle

Don't be discourage girly. I sometimes find the rationales seems weird but we all learning so it's alright to make mistakes. All I can do is try to do my best and hopefully I don't choose the wrong one on the exam LOL :p

Took NCLEX fours years ago. Finished in 45 minutes and 73 questions. Passed. Here's what I did. First realize that you know all the nursing that you can get into your brain. So stop studying workbooks on how to teach crutch-walking. This test is about critical thinking. At the test you will get paper pencil and a dry erase board. On the board write the following, "Does the question want me to take action or gather more information?" "Did I read the question closely and really understand what is being asked?" I believe this is on the first page of Kaplen's review. If you payed attention in school you have the data base, this test is about application through thinking. You can do it.

Thanks Suzanne. I thought with using your plan and reviewing content for 2 months I might be okay. Plus I did/do have 12 yrs of experience. I also thought the critical thinking skills I developed when I got my engineering degree would be beneficial. But I didn't want to get too cocky since I had no idea what the exam was like.

So thanks again for giving me such a great tool to use.

well after having a hard time putting my studying into play contemplaing between studying and doing questions I decided to do ques and make note cards for the rationals. This has really been helping me as I acquire new infor ethier from here or from my question ration I add it to a new card or if the card exists I add it to it. Lots of cards but great for review.
