Good luck on your test !!! Let me know how you do.

hi everyone! i have not set a schedule for my exam yet. but i'm looking into taking it either oct 31 or nov 17. i have not joined suzanne's plan because i only have a couple of weeks to review. i am currently in chapter 20 (positioning clients) of saunders 4th ed nclex rn. i just took the phil nle last june 2008 so i'm remembering quite a bit. i'm on self review now and i don't really get a lot of tips..

from chapter 21 i will be jumping to the MS chapters to concentrate on them. is that advisable? i think i still remember quite a bit about OB and Pedia so i'm skipping them for the meantime. Is there any topic that you guys would suggest I concentrate on? I really don't know where to focus.

also, is it okay if i don't read the book word for word? i feel like i'm wasting time finishing the chapter since i can still remember the content. suzanne's first tip says that when you get atleast 75% from the chapter quizzes, you can move on to the next chapter. sigh... i'm really having a little difficulty strategizing my review.

i would really appreciate any suggestion :) thanks!

Follow her plan exactly as written even if you feel comfortable with the material. Following it the way she says is where the 85% passage rate comes from.

That 85% passage statistic does not come from Suzanne's plan but from the NCLEX statistics. Correct me if I'm wrong....if the 85% comes from somewhere else.

Yes the 85% comes from the NSCBN website for first time passers who trained in the USA. Suzanne's first tip is just a review

did you read saunders word for word? as in everything? i'm starting on oncology at the moment :)

hi Ysabella, honestly I'm still 1/3 of the comprehensive BUT i finished the saunders book of Q & A and repeat it twice (1800 questions), right now Im answering the CD part of the Q & A (5010 questions) im at 3000 ( ihope this will be enough though):uhoh21: I just don't feel like reading the compre anymore, like im dragging myself to reading again  I took NLE last June 06 btw. Right now Im finishing the CD part with 5000 questioins. ANd next week october 8 I will start on NCSBN 3 week online review. Its too late for me now to follow suzzane's tip. I just joined the group recently. Goodluck to us. Go go go:hrnsmlys:

thanks richo for your reply! :)

i just scheduled my exam on november 7. finally! there are no available appointments for october for the testing center i wanted.

yes, that's exactly how i feel. i'm really dragging myself to finish reading the compre book. but i think i have to, no matter how fresh my june 2008 nle review was. good for you, you can afford not to read it since you'll be undergoing ncsbn review. is that a video thingee? or live lectures?

i have video lectures which i plan to watch for OB and Pedia since i don't want to read the book anymore. i don't know if that's advisable. i also started answering tests today. i did kaplan test 1 and got a 68% on it. i don't know if that's good or not.

it's comforting to be hearing from fellow test takers in the forum and how everyone can help each other in passing the exam. i really welcome suggestions and tips since i am quite helpless on my own.

I took the Kaplan class and as I recall they recommend you pass their tests by 60-65%. Anything above 65% I believe predicts a good outcome for the NCLEX exam. Given that you tested 68%, you should at least have more confidence moving forward with your studies. Hope that helps!

Its online review, it varies in different length in weeks. I will take the shortest 1 which will be 3 weeks for $49. Im not a long endurance type of reviewer:icon_roll I work well with just round 5 of 10:smokin: If I studied for a long period of time, I tend to forget it. I think your review plan is ok, and you're info is fresh since you just take your NLE this year. I just finished answering my eyes hurt:uhoh3: Good luck to us!:nurse:

Hi rich_006, does the "NCSBN 3 week online review" include lecture reviews or is it only review questions available to you for 3 weeks? Thanks!
