  1. Yes, they will allow me to retake the test. Is passing the test all I need to apply for a license?
  2. Hello everyone, I graduated in June 2010, with a MN in nursing here in Washington State. In December of 2010, I took and failed the APRN exam with the ANCC. I got pregnant and took the next year and a half off. Now, two years later after graduation, I want to take my exam again and apply for ARNP licensure. But, I read on the official website that I needed to have applied for licensure within a year of my graduation period. Help. What do I do now if I want to become a licensed APRN? After I retake the test and pass this time, what steps should I take afterwards? Thank you.
  3. I used an online study course called Hurst Review. I studied that course to the point of being able to speak it out loud without notes. I then followed Suzanne's plan. I also go the book by Mosby's called Delegation, Prioritization and Assignment. I studied hard for 3 months because I just didn't want to take the chance of failing again. I'm lucky it worked. In the end, I feel I'll be a better nurse now then before I studied for the NCLEX! Good luck!
  4. I took mine 12/18. We have a thing here in the state of Washington that allows us for quick non-official test results. You may have it as well? You can get your results in 3 days. If you have an account with Pearson Vue, you can log in and take a look for a Quick Results link. If you don't have it, then that link will not be available. Good luck to you and try to distract yourself. I know it will be hard but try to enjoy the Holidays!
  5. I just wanted to let everyone know that I passed the NCLEX this time around! The first time I took the NCLEX, I failed with 265 questions. Now, having used Hurst Review, I passed with 75 questions! I also used a modified version of Suzannes plan to personalize it with my style of studying. I found Hurst Review to be fantastic! I took Kaplan the first time and found it overwhelming. I didn't connect with its style and ultimately failed the test. With thier money back guarantee, I was able to get a full refund from Kaplan. I therefore used that money towards Hurst Review and it was worth every penny! I recommend it to others, even those who are just getting ready to start nursing school. I found the review to be personable and the vast knowledge of information was presented in a manageble and comprehendable way! I recommend it tenfold! I also found that confidence was one of the key differences between taking the test the first time and this time around. Attitude plays a huge role, as I have learned, when taking this test. Hang in there for others who are studying for the test and remember that understanding why things happen is more important than memorizing the facts. There is just too much to memorize, and under great pressure in the test situation coupled with test anxiety, memorization can fail you. With understanding why things happen, I learned to reason what the answer is and why one answer is better than the other correct answer. Thank you all for your support and good luck to others who are waiting for thier test results or are studying to take the test soon. I know it will be a challenge, but believe in yourself! I am certain that if not for allnurses.com and the resources you all have offered, I would not have passed the test! So, again, thank you all for your support!
  6. I failed the first time with 265. I then passed with 75 questions. Hang in there and try to distract yourself until you get your test results. Good luck.
  7. No way! I had no idea that you could scroll over to the upper right corner! Would have been helpful when I was using Kaplan, however, I have returned the program because I failed the first time and I figured the way I studied was the reason for not passing. Thanks for your clarification though.
  8. Hi rich_006, does the "NCSBN 3 week online review" include lecture reviews or is it only review questions available to you for 3 weeks? Thanks!
  9. I had a question about the Hurst online review. Would I be able to stop the online lectures and resume again at that stopping point after I take a break? I ask because on the Kaplan online review, I had to start the lectures all over again when I needed to take breaks - at 6-8 hour long lectures it was a nightmare! How long are each lectures, do you recall?
  10. I took the Kaplan class and as I recall they recommend you pass their tests by 60-65%. Anything above 65% I believe predicts a good outcome for the NCLEX exam. Given that you tested 68%, you should at least have more confidence moving forward with your studies. Hope that helps!
  11. That's a good question because I'm in the process of studying for my second time taking the test as well. Someone advised me to study fresh as if I hadn't taken the exam yet. Also, I'm working on the practice exams in Saunders 4th edition right now so I can utilize Suzanne's study plan. It's all overwhelming isn't it? Good luck!
  12. I'm sorry, I'm new to the board but what are "SATA" type questions?
  13. I haven't started Suzanne's plan yet because I'm still working on the first requirement, however I did find the exam cram nclex-rn book helpful with grasping most meds. In the book they discuss common endings that are common to drug classifications. It might be worth taking a glance at the book at the book store. I do still struggle with side effects however, there is just so much of it to memorize!
  14. Congratulations! Your experience is inspiring to me, being one who failed the test the first time with 263 questions. I will continue to read positive experiences such as yours to keep me motivated towards passing the test the second time around!
  15. Let me first agree with how you are feeling. I took the exam for the first time last month and failed on 263 questions. Just recently I found out that I am the only one of my 25 friends from school who failed. I feel ashamed, embarrassed, and incredibly disappointed in myself! I'm so worried about taking the exam the second time partly because I don't know where or how to begin studying for the exam again! I feel overwhelmed with the amount of information to review. I felt, and still feel an information overload for the exam! I'm hoping Suzanne's plan will help me organize myself to be efficient and effective when I study. My friends keep telling me that confidence is key to passing this exam. Confidence may be the key to relieving anxiety as well. Gaining confidence is one thing that I will be working on before I take the exam again. Good luck!
