I just wanted to put this out there to anyone who is searching information about the Texas BON and NCLEX. I passed the NCLEX-RN with 78 questions and 36 of those were select all that apply. My heart dropped into my stomach when I saw question 76 pop up but it stopped at 78! I walked out of the testing facility certain that I failed. It felt awful. I did not try the PVT because I was too scared to find out right then if I passed/failed. I was previously a LVN and passed my LVN/LPN NCLEX the first time with minimum of 65 questions. I was so much more confident leaving the testing center then. I received my LVN from Alvin Community College and went to their transition program LVN to ADN. I took the Hurst 3 day review before taking the NCLEX-RN and also the NCSBN Review for the NCLEX-RN. The TEXAS BON updates their website (to see if you have received your license) every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 am. I took my test Tuesday at 1pm and the board had my license posted Thursday morning (I didn't even have to get the quick results for $8).

Congratulations! I got my BSN in Texas but lives in NY. I’ll be sitting my exam on Wednesday and I’m somewhat doubting myself that I’m not ready. Esp. after seeing my scores when taking practice exams. The scores range from 60%-39%. 39% was my last and lowest results and it’s freaking me out.

When I was taking the Hurst NCLEX reviews I got anywhere from a 73 to 76 (they said the minimum is 77 for the people who have taken their test and passed NCLEX on the first try). The last Hurst review test I did before the NCLEX I got a 73 so I was a little apprehensive going to test after that. Did you do the ATI predictor at all? Some schools require it; Alvin required us to take it. It's a safety test, they (NCLEX lady) is there to protect the public and make sure you are not a killer nurse. ABCs, ADPIE, assessment, delegation, and Maslow's are the main foundation of everything you need to take the NCLEX. You are taking the test as a brand new nurse; not an expert; they (NCLEX lady) wants to make sure you are going to be a competent nurse. I know it's scary. And remember that the NCLEX 'hospital' has everything you need (if it's an option, then there's an order for it). You've made it through nursing school (BSN!) and you will make it through the NCLEX too!

You’re welcome. I’ve been to the worst school. They don’t do ATI’s. But today I’ll be taking that CAT exam on Kaplan. Depending on my results I’ll go through with Wednesday or else I’ll reschedule. Also practicing questions today my scores did improve to 70 &. 80%. I was in a much quiet environment. Being that I graduated since December I’m feeling like I’m forgetting. I just want to to get it over with. Praying to God I make it through on my first try. Thank you!

Hi Jenncw21,
What was your class schedule like for the LVN-RN transition at Alvin? I am an LVN and wondering how flexible the program is with Alvin. I want to do nursing school but also need to keep my employment. Any information you have would be appreciated!
Hi Roseglory! In the summer it's pretty much Monday to Thursday 830 to around 430pm. Clinical in the summer is a 12 hr shift at Clear Lake on Tuesdays. In the fall its Mon/Wed 9 to 11ish and different days for clinical. In the Spring its on campus Mon/Wed 9 to noon & then after spring break you are doing your preceptorship and everything else is online. There were other LVNs in the program with me that kept working while in the program so I know it's possible!
Thank you so much for the reply, Jenncw21! From what I am reading.... there are no weekend clinicals/classes?
Never any classes on the weekends. For the clinicals, none in the summer semester. It's possible for the fall or spring semester; it depends. In the fall semester you will have 6 med-surg rotations, 4 OB rotations, and 2 psych rotations. In the spring you will have 4 med-surg and then your preceptorship.
