:typing hi to all. i am a nurse from the Philippines. i did not pass my 1st attempt. I am now planning to re-apply for NCLEX-RN exam again. I would like to ask fellow Filipinos in this site. How did you re-apply? What documents did you send them? Is the waiting time for the eligibility faster than the 1st time? pls help. i am thinking about retaking the exam again.
I am aware that CA BON will not issue a license to international nurses when they pass if they do not have an SSN#. Do you still suggest that i still reapply here or to another state? but i really want to work at CA only. but my issue is the issuing of the license.....any advice?

You have to wait 45 days and they should send the forms in your letter. Eligibility is already given you just have to wait for pearsonvue to issue ATT once BRN tells them it is ok to and you pay fees again

I would still go thru another state for licensure at this time and not retest for CA. Even if you wish work there, you are looking at more than five years for a chance at a visa; the passing letter is only valid for three years and then it is destroyed. So you are going to have to do something to keep your score valid and the only thing would be to go thru another state. You are just going to be throwing out the money for CA as you will need to apply to them once you get the SSN# or know that you will be in the US.
CA also has one of the highest rates of unemployment right now, so chances of even finding a petitioner there are going to be hard once you pass the NCLEX exam.
Also not sure why you wrote the CGFNS exam if you were testing for CA. Noticed that you posted about this on the International Forum. If you had issues with both of these exams, I would focus on preparing before even considering to retest at this time. You should be preparing for a new exam as if you have never tested before, your exam will be completely different from what you had on your exams. I would most definitely focus on the 45 days.
Best of luck to you.

CA has one of the highest rates of unemployment out of the entire US. Chances were small before with getting petitioned by an employer in CA over the past year or so and then it is now much tighter. With facilities having lay-offs and hiring freezes, how can they pay out close to $10,000 for a nurse that is going to take more than five years for them to have a chance at a green card in the first place? How are they going to explain it that they are short of money, but are doing this to their Board of Directors? And the fact that they need to prove that they could not hire an American for the job as well.

One needs to focus on passing the exam and preparing before even considering reregistering to take it. Makes no sense if one is not fully prepared first and preparation should be done as if one has never tested before; the exam will be completely different from the first.
When one is testing out the country, the fee for the exam is $350 US plus the fees to the BRN again, it makes absolutely no sense to do anything until one is absolutely ready. And until one gets their results from the BRN, it is going to be much longer than 45 days before they should be retesting since you are not notified until about a month after testing with the results. And one should never begin to prepare again until they have their official results first.
oh.......can anyone tell me how i can transfer my credentials to another state from BRN Calif.? will i pay the new BRN of my choice a retake fee or a new fee? (i failed my 1st attempt and wanted a 2nd nclex rn exam). I heard that Vermont state issues license right away..is this true? Any suggestions for another state instead of CA. but i don't have any relatives in other states.......oh my.....im confused now and don't know what to do...... pls help me...
You can't transfer anything like credentials, you have to start all over again and meet that BON requirements for foreign trained nurse. Check out the International forum
Please go to the International Forum since you are a foreign nurse, every state has additional requirements that will need to be met.
There is no way to transfer one thing, you will be applying to the new BON as if you have never done a thing. CA owns what was sent to them and they never send it on.
Much can be learned on that forum.................best of luck to you. And glad to see that you are taking our advice and looking at another state. Smart move.

Ira, you need to contact directly the board where you wish to apply for licensure, I mean aside from CA. Every state is different when it comes to their requirements. And silverdragon was right, you cannot transfer the credentials that you have submitted to CA BON before, on your first attempt for NCLEX. You will have to ask/request for another TOR and evaluation form if it is one of the req. from your nursing school back in the PH. Even if you will find a employer to sponsor you, and with the retrogression issue right now, I think Suzzane was right that you will still have to wait long time to process your visa. Goodluck!

hi, i just failed the NCLEX exam for new jersey, i guess i did not have enough time to review since i only reviewed during my free time and after work..This time i like to properly review before taking it for the 2nd time.. I already received the letter from new jersey board of nursing(NJ BON) informing me that i have to send them another completed aplication form free of charge and register again to pearson veu for $200.. Can anyone tell me for how long can i postpone my application for retake? Maybe i can just apply after a year? Before they scrap my records at NJ BON that is... thank you..
