Nclex-rn Result In Ca

Just a quick question:

Can I now apply to another state (like Vermont or Maryland) for NCLEX-RN exam eventhough I haven't received my NCLEX exam result in CA which I took last 3/9/07 in HK? It has been 9 agonizing weeks now and I'm pretty sure that if it's taking this long that I definitely failed the exam! My cousin who took hers in CA last 3/20/07 already got her passing result barely 4 weeks and it was mailed here in PI.

I'm depressed, but I just want to move on and waiting for the result is not making it easier...:o

I requested CA BON to send me a certification that I passed the NCLEX. This is also what they sent to CGFNS when I applied for a Visascreen.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.
HOw long would this "retrogression" lasts?

a long time, doubt due to the high demand especially from certain countries that it will ever go away

You are looking at five years plus for a chance at a green card, but expect that time to go up and not down due to the number from your country that are graduating on a continuous basis, it is actually going to make things harder for everyone. Not easier.

Actually, they do not send a certificate in to them; they only complete the one form that you sent in to them. No reason for them to do anything else as CGFNS/ICHP does not require anything else. Only the verification from them on the one piece of paper. Nothing more than that.

yeah its true, and yet, im worrying my NCLEX-RN file in ca that would expire... if i'll wait 5 long years or more as i read here. i Wish CA BRN be considerate on what foreign nurses undergone through.

Sorry, but you should have known that the letter is only valid for three years; it has been a very well known fact for sometime.

There is no reason for them to make any changes to what they have done for a very long time, and no reason for them to keep a manual file open if nothing is being done with it. This is one of the reasons that I have never recommended CA for initial licensure for anyone that does not have a SSN#, this is not something new at all.

You can easily go for licensure in another state in the last year that your letter is valid and then you will have a license. But there is no reason to do that now as you will be paying for a license that has an expiration date on it as well. Licenses in the US are usually valid for two years only and then need to be renewed.

Nursing licenses here also do not have pictures on them, so for even the states that issue a license; there is no picture on any of them. I have never had a license with my picture on it in all of the years that I have been an RN in the Us, so not sure where you were getting your information from.

A letter from the BRN that you passed will suffice for any employer, there is nothing else that they will get or be able to use.

It is also not your NCLEX file that will expire, but the file for licensure as an RN. The results are only one part of that file, but not the only thing at all.

This is why we always tell everyone to do their homework before doing one thing with licensure in the US and find out what all of the requirements are and if a permanent license is issued or not without a SSN#.
