When taking the nclex for the 2nd time. Do they test you on your weakness on your previous exam? Or is it random??

LOL You know I was so depressed a couple of days ago after not seeing my license on the BON site, but more and more I realize I'm not alone. I too will be taking the exam 2nd time (probably beginning of September). How did everyone study the first time and what are you guys doing differently 2nd time around?? My weakness was medications so I think I'm sticking to med flashcards and questions
yes~ i was really upset and depressed when I realized not everyone passses the first time and that I can do it! We all can!! =) The first time I took Kaplan which I thought was a lot of help I just need help with taking tests and I felt like i was a weak on content. Im starting 1-1 tutor with my kaplan instructor so we'll see how it goes!!!
I took the online Kaplan course and that didn't really help me out seeing how I failed the NCLEX the first time. I'm studying for the 2nd time with the live-class. Hopefully this will be more beneficial for me and that I'll pass this time around. Scares me though seeing how some have taken it 4-6 times before passing. Hope that wont be the case for m

I will take it probably October. I have failed my first since I just did Saunders Compre Book for a month. I felt that I rushed and just wanted to finish the book without really understanding every content. Tendency is you might forget what you read the other day because you are rushing your reading.
My score was I was Below on just one part and 2 above passing, and all near passing. I don't have any idea how to review but I got a new book to read with harder questions. It's really hard to gauge how you are doing by your scores on the CD's. I stopped 265 on my first and clueless on what near passing means since I read on a book that I just lacked consistency in order to pass with 265.

Hey guys, I jsut found out this morning I did not pass. I did the rapid results so Im not sure how below passing I was. I have already reregistered with pearson and I have to resend my nursing license application into the state. I studied ATI the first time around and Im going to re review that but I am using other alternative sources too. I hope to retest in September. All depends how quickly the BON lets me. I have the sylvestry and saunders books too so im just going to try everything. I feel like meds were my week part as far as side effects to look for so Im going to really study that this time around. Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions for study material. Good luck to all of you and heres hoping we only have 1 more time to deal with this stress before we are RN's!
Keep the faith I failed my 1st time with 265 as well!! This bad but not that bad!!! We wasn't consitent in our stratgey!! I believe we knew the content but didn't use test taking stratgies to get us through! I will be taking my exam soon and to prepare I am doing content review and questions! We will pass this next time!
Thanks for the encouragement and the advice. Its nice to know Im not alone. I knew the content but im going back and refocusing. Also my nerves were completely out of control. I dont know exactly what happened. I was ok when I first walked thru the door and then I realized i didnt have my idea and I had to get my ride to come back with it and it just was all down hill from there. But Im looking at this as a positive. Everything happens for a reason and I will be ready and more prepared next time. Hang in there and let me know how it goes for you :)
