jadecn,

thnk u so much...

its amazing....

A client returns from surgery after a right mastectomy with an IV of 0.9% NaCl infusing at 100 ml/h into her left forearm. Several hours later, the IV infiltrates. The nurse supervises a student nurse preparing to insert a new peripheral intravenous catheter. The nurse should intervene in which of the following situations?

1.The student nurse selects a site where the veins are soft and elastic.

2.The student nurse selects a site on the distal portion of the left arm.

3.The student nurse selects a site close to the joint to provide for stability.

4.The student nurse holds the skin taut to stabilize the vein.

The correct answer is 3, but I also read the site to choose after infilteration should be proximal to infilteration site not distal. So I was confused tht the 2nd option shd be incorrect too.

wht do u guys think?

hiya everyone,,been reviewing last few daysthings are lot harder now for older nurses like me 39y/o i wish i took nclex a soon as i graduated from nursing as the basics of nursing are still fresh from my head, but anyway i will keep trying and hopefully things will come easy soon.have lovely day everyone and God Bless u all

I believe 3 is incorrect b/c the IV could easily be pulled out if near a joint. I could be wrong though, I'm just a lowly almost done with 1st semester nursing student.

Hello everybody. Hope u all doing good. I have a question: Is anyone had been taken nursing exel( $500 , 10 day prep), or heard anything about it?

Hello everyone!

My test is in beginning of June, main suggestion is to stick to your study plan and don't over do it so you might cause exhaustion. Answer no more then 150 questions per day for 2-3 weeks prior to your test (I use 50,50,50 through my day). I used Kaplan prep course and in addition to that I answer questions using this book:

http://www.lww.com/product/Lippincotts-QA-Review-NCLEX-RN/?978-1-60831-125-5

I spread my material so I will review one chapter per day and then answer related questions to the same body system. After reviewing all material I focus on answering questions and plan to build from 75,150 and 265 question last few weeks. So I will be ready for my test even I have to sit for all 6 hours test. Remember to bring snack's with you, ear plugs, meds if you have any health issues or headaches due to stress and anxiety. Eat bananas for breakfast... gives you plenty potassium for your mental activity... This exam is like running long distance marathon... you can kill yourself if you run overnight without any preparation and training. So consider yourself in a boot camp now and reward yourself at the end... few days prior to your test just relax...

It is hard but not impossible!

Best wishes on your test!

Don't worry you are not alone!!! I'm 39 too and have three children... Graduated from Nursing school back in 1989 and worked in hospitals for 6 years but then decided to raise my children instead of sending them to day care. Now I'm ready to go back to Nursing Field and pass this test! You can do it!!! Plan everything and assess your weaker points... then go back and study them... :-) In our age repetition and practice is the magic key!!! :-)

Good luck with everything!

Thanks and you are welcome! If I can be at any help... I realised too many books can hurt as well and cause distraction... for major references I use college books like MED/Surg Nursing by Lewis,Heitkemper, Dirksen is my "Nursing Bible" :-) I try not to cram too much information but little steps over period of time will do the job for me. Remember we all have different abilities for study... some of us are visual learners some might benefit from hearing the lectures... Your brain can function only for short period of time effectively by grasping major points, this why most of our lectures are 45-60 min long. Still at the end of this hour you drift away... your brain is too tired... I know when I'm most active and I use this time accordingly only for my studies... Now I put aside everything else and ask my family for support because we are in one boat!!! :-)

Study, study and study! It will pay off to you when you become an RN!!!
