NCLEX RN GONE BAD

Published

I just took my nclex rn today and I'm 100% positive I failed. I got the max 265 by question 140 i was done.

How long do you have to wait to Retake RN Nclex in Texas??? What should I do different

I feel like I don't know what I'm doing or maybe I shouldn't be doing this. All my other friends got the min 75. I;m so upset with myself.

HELP!!!:crying2:

It's almost impossible to pass after getting all 265.

This is NOT TRUE!!!! It's about 50/50.

I'm a long-time nursing professor and Kaplan instructor.

Worse case scenario: If you did not pass....it is a much better sign that you did not pass with 265 questions (the max)....than with any lesser amount.

Know that, if you did indeed fail, it in no way reflects on the kind of nurse you *are* going to be.

Regroup, refocus, retake as soon as possible. I know a girl that had horrible test anxiety all through school. She failed the NCLEX the first time and that only made her anxiety worse. But she kept at it and eventually passed. She's an amazing nurse.

You'll get there.

I just took my NCLEX today so I know exactly how you feel. It's terrible to have to wait for results for such a big test. I sincerely hope you passed. If not, it's not the end of the world. Remember that! Just get back to studying and try not to watch Scrubs for a while....it might induce crying into a tub of ice cream. :nurse:

If you do wind up having to take it again, may I suggest you check out the Judy Miller dvd series. It's too expensive to buy (I think it's like $1000 on her website), but maybe your school has a copy you can watch. She's sooooo much better than looking at years of nursing notes. I had a lot of questions today that I definitely would've gotten wrong if not for her tapes. Just a suggestion...hope we both passed though!

A lot of people don't pass the first time...and it is no reflection on what kind of a nurse they are. I have never, ever had a patient ask me if I passed the NCLEX-PN on the first shot...and once you do pass, the RN behind your name is just like the RN behind every other RN's name.

Wait and see. Study, but don't OVER study. Take it again. You'll get there!

Thank you so much everyone. I feel a little better but I have my moments. I worked too hard and sacraficed too much to let this slip away. I have huge test taking anxiety and need to learn to manage it somehow. I am an LVN so I have already taken LVN NCLEX and did great on that so this is a bit of a shock for me. I did do the HURST review but maybe I didn't study enough. I do have access to the Judy MIller DVD's so I will for sure look at those. Just sucks....lol...

another question...In the state of texas u have to wait 45 days but doesn't anyone know if it's buss days or calendar days.

Again thanks for all your words of encouragment. They are getting me through this rough time

That's not true , it actually means your in the 'gray area' and its trying to figure out where you fall on competency ........i know people that passed at 265.

ditto. I had a classmate who got all 265 as well and passed.

I am not sure about Pearson, however; in the state of Ohio, you can log onto the state board of nursing to find out your results (usually within 24 hours); whereas Pearson charges a fee. Just because you got the total number of questions does not mean that you failed. I freaked out when I got 76 questions, because I thought I surely failed if the test only needed to ask me one more question. I took an hour drive home from the testing facility and then got drunk. LOL. The NCLEX was one of the most anxiety producing tests that I have ever taken. If you do fail the test, please do not give up! I know two people who failed the first time and passed the second time. I also know someone else who failed 2 years ago and refuses to retake the test. My point, nursing school is demanding, if you can survive that, you can survive the NCLEX. Best of luck!

Also, since the NCLEX is a different breed of animal, you may need to review books that explain tips on how the questions are asked and how to respond. I would recommend Kaplan. I found it an excellent resource. You can also go on-line to find the categories r/t questions asked and brush up on the topics that you lack in. Hope this helps.

There is plenty of time to get discouraged and wrapped up in plans for a retake when you get your official results that you failed. Until then, relax and congratulate yourself on having taken the test.
