NCLEX-RN Exam on April 2011, need motivation?

Published

Hello Nursing World,

I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!

I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! :uhoh3: Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011? :yeah: What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.

Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!:lol2:

Hey Kittykatkat...I know how ur feeling the truth is that u can never feel ready for such a test:confused:... you will always feel like you can cover more... and that is what happened to me too... but you need to analyze how much material you have covered in the past 3 months... if you have not studied with full dedication for at least the last month then I would reconsider switching the test but if you feel like that you have covered sufficient material and have covered some test taking strategies and a good amount of questions then try to take a break for about day and just relax do something totally unrelated to nursing or testing anything like that and then the next day take like a 265 test with full dedication and focus...if you are scoring well it probably means that you are ready and are just having last minute jitters....this is something that I have personally tried....in either case keep you hopes high and take frequent breaks when you do study.... remember nclex is not about how much information you can regurgitate on the test instead it is about knowing the core content and knowing how to answer those questions....good luck and let me know if you need anything.....

hi guys... goodluck on your exms.. btw, I am jst new to this site and I just want to ask some tips on how to pass the nclex exam. I took mine last 2006 and I failed, never had the courage to take it again:( Right now I am working in a call center and I am planning to pursue my nursing career and I got to admit that i feel scared as ever. I want to take a review center but I am so lost and I have no idea where to enroll. I am also waiting for my ny credential verification until now , i applied for it last May 2010 and I am also wondering why it still says in my account that its waiting for approval:((

guys any help /tips will be appreciated. Thanks

I was thinking about you the last couple of days. Prayers are powerful. I'm still high from seeing the passing on the BON and today I just saw my name and RN number on the BON. I have been spamming job sites for two hours today. But if I was meant to work there I will get the job.

I'm just taking life as it is. Relaxing while I can next month, my family is coming to see me walk across the stage. I'm so psyched!

Thanks cyram81RN! Cheers to good life! *wine

will be taking the test in 2 weeks.. any suggestions what to do in 2 weeks or do i need to reschedule my test?

exam date is entirely up to you.. follow what you heart says and weigh how prepared you are.:redpinkhe Goodluck! You may need to consider ways to manage anxiety and lessen your stress.. whatever works for you.. and continue answering questions... my prayers are with you and to all who will be taking the exam!:)

That's great your pursuing your nursing profession! a lot of stories and experiences of posters will inspire you and these helped me motivate in preparing for the exam. Check out some threads that interests you and from there you'll be able to know how to start. it's okay to be scared we all do! Just take the first step and believe in yourself:) you can do it!

As to review center, it depends where area you are. if your looking for classroom based or online based; like Kaplan ( which i recommend) they only have 4 days interactive lecture online and the rest you have to do it by yourself.. more like self study but you;ll be provided with videos ( content, questions with rationale, strategies etc. etc) for 3 months. it really depends on the categories they offer that meets your needs.

Goodluck! :)
