NCLEX-RN 2014...Anxiety has begun

Published

Hey everyone,

I graduated from a 15 month ABSN program in december. After graduation i took a 3 week vacation which was welllllllll needed!!! My school convinced almost everyone to enroll in the Kaplan review course ($379). We also did a week long ATI nclex review/predictor the week before graduation. I did well in nursing school but according to the ATI predictor i have 78% chance of passing the nclex-rn on 1st attempt. i didn't take it too hard because at that point everything i learned in school seemed to be a blur :wideyed: and i did not look at anything nursing related prior to taking the test.

ATI is ok i guess:yawn: we were required to take practice test throughout the program and i did fairly well...mostly level 2 i think i got a level 3 once or twice.

This past friday i bought the saunders nclex-rn review textbk (6th edition) because i read on here that its useful for content review. i plan on only using saunders and kaplan.

my question is this... how on earth do you start??? its so overwhelming especially coming from an accelerated program where we basically had exams every week!!

Where do you begin on day 1 of your nclex-rn prep?

Looking forward to any replies. Thank You!!

I took the ATI predictor and got a 55% raw score which equalled to about a 32% chance of passing. Obviously I started to panic. I took an ATI Live Review course and answered about 250 practice questions a day for two weeks from either ATI, Saunders, or NCSBN Green Light Extension. I took the NCLEX July 1st and passed! Moral of the story- the ATI predictor is NOT definitive!

I used the Kaplan book which I found to be a huge help. It really depends on where your weak areas are. Saunders is great for content review. The biggest thing that helped me was learning to strategize and HOW to take the Nclex. I also downloaded an Nclex review on the Audible app the times I couldn't sit down to study. If you sign up you get 1 free book and can always cancel your subscription afterwards.

Good luck!

Hello!

I am taking my nclex in August and was reading this thread! Please tell me about this AUDIO APP! Is it on iphone? I want it! I am going on vacation next weekend and I dont want to bring my review materials, but anything I can have on my phone will be a help! I hope anyone is still on this thread and will receive notification about this post and tell me about it! Thank you!

I just took the NCLEX RN OHIO JULY 25TH I PASSED! Studying- did no more than 100-200 questions a day on work days just a short ten question quiz. I did several hundred select all that apply, drop and drag, point click questions. Ready through my weak areas of peds, maternity, and cardio in nclex rn hesi book AND made just a dozen index cards with vital info that i would study the day before and of the test. It had lab values, and, burn bsa count, math conversions, antidotes, and med levels as of dig and dilantin ect.Honestly it wouldn't have mattered what i knew. I could've know everything from every book but almost all of what I got on the test was PRIORITY and what would you do FIRST. More than 75%. Lots probably 50 or more questions were select all that apply! They weren't that bad though thanks to studying. Had about 20 or less questions on herbs saw pamento, Echinacea, ginger root, ginko biloba. Wasn't expecting that. Drag and drop maybe 5 questions. No math no point click. Maybe two listening questions. 5 to 10 questions on cardio tele very basic i thought. - PVC's and a-fib v-tach showed picture and what do you do.. sock give meds. Several infection control questions about measles, RSV, childhood would you wear a mask when giving meds or place them in a private room at the end of the hallway? Ect thankfully i had studied that. Knowing that infection control is big with nclex.I went in expecting minimum questions of 85. I had gotten the minimum with my lpn and felt great in the end. Only took 45 mins. The questions with lpn were easy, straight forward.. RN is not. I got the maximum amount of questions 265 took 4 hrs with a fifteen min break. I had always thought ppl who had the max amount of questions were struggling or something, honestly. I was wrong.. i was a B+ to A student. I just kept thinking how i was still in the game doing well. Buckle in and take it. That helped me get through it. Almost cried when i was done. Felt like i totally failed. But I passed thanks to prayer and God!

Oh and PVT works. Was so stressed out then finally used it two yours after once test said delivered. Got the good pop up! Was stress free all wkend since it was Friday!

im taking my nclex next month.. do you have any suggestions.. im really anxious , scared.. its my first time. im doing Kaplan Q bank and saunders 6th ed.

I studied HESI nclex blue book ISBN-10: 0323065856 and sounders yellow book cd for questions ISBN-10: 1437708250 make sure you get the CD thats all i used with that book. Flash cards were great! A quick tip , i love colors makes me study better, i went to my local walmart paint isle and took a bunch of paint sample colors.. made flash cards with those! Main points i can give you us to study PRIORITY and Dont study too many things if you just use these two materials diligently and EVERY DAY leading up to your test you'll be ok! Do 100 nclex questions on off days and 15 on days you work. Look at you flash cards every day.. you'll be ok!!!

hi!!! Congratulations! I am taking my nclex in couple of days and I also took the NCSBN review! However, I am only getting mostly 60%-75% on my q bank review! WHat did your scores range from when you took them???
