NCLEX REGISTRATION PROCESS

Published

Hello everyone,

I am currently a nursing student in Atlanta, GA and will be graduating on May 2020. I have troubling and understanding the process of applying for NCLEX. Does anyone know the process and willing to share step-by-step? Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey! So, I am also graduating in May and so far I have gotten my fingerprints as well as registered and paid for the exam through PearsonVue. The GA Board of Nursing website has steps that you can follow as well as links to applications that will need to be filled out. Here is the link to the website: https://sos.ga.gov/index.php/licensing/plb/45. Just a heads open, I have heard that there are only three live fingerprint sites open throughout the whole state of GA due to COVID-19. I personally drove an hour and a half to get my fingerprints done. Let me know if you need any more help!

Thank you so much for your respond!

My professors did not give much information about the registration process at all and I am really stress out because of this. She mentioned that we have to get our finger print through COGENT. Is that what you did also? If so, is this the website you went to register? https://www.aps.gemalto.com/ga/index.htm

I completely understand! This is the pdf that I followed for the fingerprints! Since the governor is allowing businesses to open back up, I would check the fingerprint center near you. The one near me is opening up for fingerprints next week after I have already driven and hour and a half.

I sincerely appreciate your kindness so much! Have you registered for Pearson also? I registered account on Pearson, but it asking me to pay $200 fee. I am unsure if I am doing it right so I have not pay it yet.

Do not pay Pearsonvue anything until you have graduated and the BON has reviewed your application

You’re so welcome! Yes, I have registered for PearsonVue and paid the $200. I see the other comment about not paying until graduating and the board of nursing reviewing your application, however, everywhere I have read regarding GA board of nursing says that the fingerprints and registration with PearsonVue should be completed at least 48 hours before applying for your license!

Thank you! ❤️

One more thing that I am concern about is when I went to https://sos.ga.gov/index.php/licensing/plb/45 and click "apply online" then it took me to another page and I clicked "Click Here to Begin the Online Application Process" then it took me to https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/mylicense/Login.aspx?process=app

Am I supposed to choose "If you wish to register for a "person" license account (e.g. Registered Nurse, Accountant), click here to continue the registration process."

I apologize for asking so many questions but thank you a lot for helping me so far!

Yes, that is where you apply for your actual license! That is what they want you to complete at least 48 hours after registering for PearsonVue and getting your live fingerprints done!

Thank you! I am going to register for the fingerprint on this upcoming Monday after the exam!

If you don't mind me asking, have you register for NCLEX exam date yet? I heard from allnurses website that there are more testing centers open now.

No, I have not. From what I have read as far as the process for the NCLEX, after you register for you license, you have to wait for them to background check you and review your application. Once all of that is done, they will send the an authorization to test (ATT) and that’s when you’ll be able to actually set an exam date. I have been reading lots of forums on here because I am slowly getting more and more anxious about it. I have seen where several people had to reschedule for a much later date. I also recently saw a post where she said that by the time she got the ATT the dates were so spread out that it was either take it in 5 days or 4 weeks from then. I’m glad to hear that they are opening up more test centers, I want to test as soon as possible after graduation. If you don’t mind me asking, have you started studying for the NCLEX? If so, what programs are you using?

You really provide me with so much information about this NCLEX process thing. My school does not give us any information at all about the ATT. Thanks again!

I am using Saunders, 35 pages NCLEX study guide, Kaplan, and I am also going to purchase UWORLD 60 days. I would like to take my exam before July 20th because that is my orientation date at the hospital. I heard many good reviews about Mark's video but I just cannot focus on it. What about you? What resources are you using to prepare for NCLEX?
