Nclex PN 2016

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

After 3 and a half hours with 205 questions I passed the NCLEX-PN. I won't lie it was difficult. I used Kaplan to study and I can't say that it helped. I also used the Saunders book which is a good book but honestly none of that really helped me for the type of questions I got on Nclex

Hello all

I took my Nclex-PN feb 9th 2016. It was the most nerve wrecking exam ever! In this article I will be completely honest. I always told myself that once I pass the NCLEX I would start a blog/forum to help others because I know how it is.

A little back story of myself, I completed the LVN program here in Texas ( I won't mention the school) in December and as soon as I graduated I IMMEDIATELY began to study... Our school used Kaplan for the review so I reviewed Kaplan everyday for 12 hrs a day (I studied at work) anyway now let's get to the point. Was Kaplan helpful for the Nclex? I would say yes and no! Yes bc it helped you understand how to answer questions properly especially priority questions and no bc their rationale usually sucked. Anyway when I took the Nclex I won't lie, when the first question popped up I was like, "what is this" lol so I took a deep breath and answered all the questions to the best of my ability... Once the questions passed 85 I began to lose confidence but I just kept answering bc I was determined to pass! So please know and understand if you pass 85 keep answering until the computer shuts off. I went to 205 and was relieved it was over but sad I went up that high. I immediately began to cry leaving the exam location. Lol so the questions I had on the test were lots of delgation, who would you see first, priority questions, I had 22 questions that were SELECT ALL THAT APPLY, I had one math problem that was simple I just had to do conversion, and I had lots of preventive care and patient teaching questions, I memorized all my lab values but I only really got 2 questions that pertained to lab values. I had a few questions on diabetes (type 1 and Type 2) and I had a lot of questions on OB and newborn!!! Like majority of my test was OB! Which was great for me bc I want to be a labor and delivery nurse in the future anyway . I had all the questions (205) and still passed. I just want to encourage others to let them know even if you go pass 85 stay focused and determined! Don't give up and take a break if you need it. I hope this helps anyone and I will be willing to help anyone with questions... I tried to be as detailed as I could be lol hence the long post (sorry about that) good luck to everyone out and I sprinkle good luck charms to everyone!!

What did the pop say when you used valid credit card with incorrect expiration date?

I took my NCLEX yesterday in Indiana and found out I passed today. I had over 30 SATA. It was very hard but.... I think that this is why I passed in 85 questions. I know everyone has different opinions but more harder questions do seem to mean less questions. I left feeling like I had failed never had a test been so hard. I only took it once so am not an expert and don't claim to be just how it seemed. I also want to let you know how I studied. I did ATI through my school and we had a live review. Highly recommend. Also gave us a book I used this to write flash cards on lab values and then there is a reference for all the common med ending that are alike. I also did flash cards for digoxin and lithium toxicity seemed important. Then I did tons of questions every day for a month like at least 200 usually 500 or more. I used nclex mastery pn and did all my ati tests twice. I think this made me prepared to not freak out over sata. I'm a nervous test taker so wanted to offer specifics to all those others like me. I am a nurse now officially for the first time so excited! My history is 9 years as a tech at a hospital. I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has. Not specifics on questions but know your isolations for sure!

I took my NCLEX PN on October 5th used the pvt trick 4 hours, 12 hrs, 24 hrs later and got the good pop up! Wasn't too sure that the pvt was accurate until I saw my results on October 7th at

1:07 pm. Waiting 48 hrs was so stressful. So much anxiety!!!

i want to let everyone know that I used ATI, Nclex mastery and Saunders 6th edition to pass. But everyone is different. I thought I failed the NCLEX because I had 85 percent select all that apply. And I really didn't study select all that apply questions as much as I did for med surge and pharm. I had Prioritization based questions mostly.

For anyone doubting themselves I know how that feels I waited 10 months after graduation to take my NCLEX because I was so scared!

Btw I'm from NY. Does anyone know when your name will appear on the BON site?

Currently looking for bridge LPN - RN schools. If anyone knows of some in the NY/NJ area please let me know! Thank you and good luck to all present and future nurses! I believe in all of you❤️

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi anyone here applied for nclex pn in california these past few months? im a foreign nursing graduate from philippines. i applied for nclex lvn since i know that BON california didnt qualify foreign grad to take nclex rn. so, I got recieved a response from bvnpt and they said i need to do cgfns to complete my requirements. this is really frustrating because I've waited for so many months after i submit my requirements 6 months to be exact before i get a response from bvnpt and then thats what there asking me to do. to think that cgfns is not included in the list of requirements need to be submitted.

I did my credential re evaluation since i already had ces report but it was expired. anyone knows how long will it take for my ces to be issued?

I took my test yesterday in CA at 8am did all 205 horrid questions. Left thinking I failed for sure! My brain stopped working after about 100 questions but by 150 I really just wanted them to shut off my computer because there is no way I passed. I feel like I knew nothing. I did the pvt today after about 24 hours because I just couldn't function anymore from all the anxiety. To my surprise I got the good pop up. Still unsure about the results but it did help alleviate some of the anxiety for now. I will update when I receive my letter in the mail in a few weeks. #CAneedsquickresults ☹️

I tested 9-29-16, NO RESULTS yet; I've tried going onto the BreEZe CA website, I log in and when I try to re-apply and pay as if I've failed, I get an error message saying I cant due to an open application; not sure if this is cause they are still processing my results or what???? I figured by not I'd be able to pay again in the event I failed, but the BreEZe doesn't allow me to... Anyone else have this problem? It's been 3 agonizing weeks and I've officially lost my mind... I took all 205 questions and a repeat test taker and the suspense of waiting is killing me! I promised myself I wouldn't do the do the PVT trick, I'd rather wait!!! BUT UGHHHH

It sounds like you got the good pop up. If it didn't let you pay then chances are you passed. I know a few of my classmates have been waiting over 3 weeks for their letters as well.

Update: I got my letter in the mail on 10/19/16. I passed!! I paid the $150 for my license that same day online. As of now it still shows pending and no license # on breeze. I will update when it finally pops up. :)

@ griseldab2001 CONGRATS!!

How would you or what level of difficulty would you consider "care plan" questions, teaching and prioritizing quests for nclex PN, and CPU shutoff @85
