  1. I took my NCLEX yesterday in Indiana and found out I passed today. I had over 30 SATA. It was very hard but.... I think that this is why I passed in 85 questions. I know everyone has different opinions but more harder questions do seem to mean less questions. I left feeling like I had failed never had a test been so hard. I only took it once so am not an expert and don't claim to be just how it seemed. I also want to let you know how I studied. I did ATI through my school and we had a live review. Highly recommend. Also gave us a book I used this to write flash cards on lab values and then there is a reference for all the common med ending that are alike. I also did flash cards for digoxin and lithium toxicity seemed important. Then I did tons of questions every day for a month like at least 200 usually 500 or more. I used nclex mastery pn and did all my ati tests twice. I think this made me prepared to not freak out over sata. I'm a nervous test taker so wanted to offer specifics to all those others like me. I am a nurse now officially for the first time so excited! My history is 9 years as a tech at a hospital. I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has. Not specifics on questions but know your isolations for sure!
  2. Science classes 5 years:up:
  3. build a good relationship with fellow cna's then approach them with I have a hard patient I'm going to need help with so I was hoping you might have one I could help you with.
  4. well.... it wasn't my turn to clean up the code brown I did the last three.... besides I just gave my report I'm outta here!
  5. I did get my A in anatomy but am really worried my score is only 131.7 and I keep hearing 140 and up. I only took teas once to save in case for next time. I would love to hear from more people who have applied in Evansville. The lowest score last year was 128 that got into RN. anyone know how many applicants there were last year? Really want to know my chances!
  6. wow our letters don't go out till may 31st I envy those that are already getting in! I'm taking finals this week so will be on pins ands needles after that! Shannon
  7. I feel a very strong urge to help you! I recently went through some horrible experiences with medicine and totally understand how you feel. I went off all medicine and started using a natural supplement called sam e I get it through Swanson vitamins for 15 per month. I have went now 4 months and am doing awesome. I think sometimes we get overwhelmed and everything in life becomes overshadowed by the fact were anxious. until your happy with yourself you will not be happy with any job! I will tell you it takes about a week to work but zero side affects. Hope this helps.
  8. I love this subject. Ive been a tech for years just starting program in may hopefully!, and I do solemnly swear to help techs without thinking its a "tech's" job. There are way too many "that's not my patient or that's not my job in nursing. I think definition of nursing should be taking care of ANY patient needs.
  9. Thanks for all the comments. I did have ears checked and they were clean so that isn't the problem. I hear OK unless there is background noise. The only time it has affected patient care was actually funny. I heard a patient wrong when she told me her name. At the end of two weeks she was leaving and the rehab person asked her name she told him what it was but stated that we had been calling her "" the whole time she was there and she kind of liked it! LOL Why on earth she hadn't told anyone before that I'll never know. I take my job very seriously and I would never want to jeopardize a patient. I was told in hearing test I had some hearing loss and would eventually need a hearing aid. I feel I can handle it for now with the exception of the pressure readings. I think I will buy one of the amplified ones mentioned here and see if I can go that route for now. The price of hearing aids is crazy!
  10. pct are hospital trained. you have an excellent shot at getting hired with the experience you have too! I have been one for 8 years.
  11. I am a tech of several years and I have applied to nursing program hopefully to start this fall. I haven't been able to hear a blood pressure reading very well the last few years and was hoping that someone could tell me if there is a special stethoscope that is better for someone who is hard of hearing. I really can't afford a hearing aid and ?I am only 39 and don't want one. this worries me as I have worked very hared to get to this point and I am not sure what they do about this for someone who wants to be a nurse. I have always done the automatic at work and have someone else so it if I need a manual done I know as a nurse that won't work. I feel that nursing is my calling in life and need answers. Thanks in advance.
  12. You should definitely do a patient care tech or cna and make sure the job is what you want to do. I am not a nurse yet but I had a student nurse I trained for two weeks who was close to graduating school. She hated it and was in tears and said I don't even know if I like this and I went to school for it. Make sure it is a good fit for YOU! Another girl trained me in was in school to be a nurse and after three years decided to get her degree in massage. she loved it and had started to get burnt out on nursing. Its a job that isn't a right for for everyone.
  13. I did it with math but I like math. COMM, English or sociology would be great choices
  14. I have a question. I have been a patient care tech for years and have just applied to get into the nursing program this fall. I have for the last few years become unable to hear blood pressure and heart beat through hospital stethoscope. My question is do they make ones that help people that are hard of hearing? I quit doing manuals and always have to get someone else to do that for me and I know as a nurse I can't do this. I am not even 40 and really can't afford a hearing aid. Does anyone know a good solution for this problem?
  15. I am a holiness Christian. I've worked in a regular hospital for years and one thing that is stressed no matter which hospital you work in is diversity. I constantly get what we call web in services which are tests you have to pass frequently on this subject. We are not to treat all patients the same regardless of religion we are to treat them with respect regarding their religion this treat each individual differently. what I mean is we will make accommodation's for all a persons beliefs and if they have weird rituals we allow them space to perform these. I am pretty sure that they will not because of this force any of their rituals onto employees as well. I am able to wear a skirt to work even though its probably a lot more practicle to wear pants.
