What if someone went to school in the Philippines, and didn't finish everything yet, she only needs the last nursing class "nursing management and leadership", but something came up and couldn't go back to finish it. So obviously she has no BSN degree, can she take the NCLEX-PN?
I ask this because someone in the BSN program in the USA can take the NCELX-RN without getting the BSN degree as long as all the requirements for RN are met. Can the same logic be applied to NCLEX-PN?
Thank You

It depends on what state she is applying in. You can take the Nclex-rn without finishing the bsn program as long as all of the classes for adn are finished and you mark adn not bsn otherwise you have to wait until you are finished. Tell her don't give, the best way is to call the board of nursing and ask, they are the only one who can tell you.

But if an ADN degree isn't awareded then how can they check off ADN on the application for the NCLEX-RN?
As far as I know in CA you can take the NCLEX-PN while in the ADN program. I believe they call it an early exit program. I'm unsure how many schools offer it, but if you've met all the requirments for the PN, then I would contact the board of nursing and see if that's possible.

People need to remember that the PN designation isn't a consolation prize for those who fail to complete their RN education.
No but it is a jump start to their nursing career. Maybe the person wants to get their PN license and continue towards their RN license. I agree it isn't a consolation prize but rather a stepping stone.

PNs are a valuable part of the nursing team. The fact that you are a Practical Nurse doesn't mean you have any way failed or are not "finished" yet. Stepping stone makes it sound like PNs have no value.
I think people know that just some have it harder than others. Hopefully they will be able to finish theri RN work in the future when things aren't so crazy. We should encourage each other not beat down a person already down:p
Thank you MRSLRJ!! :)
