NCLEX PN: I don't know what to do anymore

Published

I've taken the Nclex-pn twice already and failed...I started reviewing again for my 3rd try ...I'm doing alot of questions about 100-200 questions a day and scoring myself...my scores are in the 50-60 percentages still!!!...this is so frustrating....why am i scoring so low?...i feel like I can't do this anymore...I am giving up and getting so depressed about this whole NCLEX!!! And to also mention that in nursing school...i struggled, but i made it in the end...I basically just want to know if there is a good Nclex pn book out there that is easy to understand? and any other tips on passing this test...I really wanna pass this next try!!!:o

i just took the nclex pn two days ago.. unfortunately in california we don't get quick results.. i stopped at 85 and i am very positive i failed. i guessed on more than half of the questions, and i don't know.. i just know i didn't pass..

i got two repeated questions and i heard that if you get some questions repeated, then you're failing the exam? i got a couple toward the end. i also didn't get any calculations. does that have anything to do with failing to??

soo soo scared

I also took the NCLEX 2 days ago in Ca. I felt really good after but now I am scraed. My computer shut off at 85 and I had 2 math questions thats it. I remembered more than half of the questions and so far I have found 4 questions that I missed. I heard there are 15-25 pilot questions that don't count against you. Not sure if thats true. Anyone know???? Well, good luck and I'm sure you will pass. Where did you test at in Ca?

The NCLEX is a scary exam. Like another poster stated maybe you are having test anxiety.

As far as learning the material, I used saunders PN and NCLEX PN made incredibly easy, but I mostly used saunders. I did at least 100 questions a day for 6 weeks in study mode, so I could read the rationale behind each one. I also found the areas I was weak in and really focused on them.

Always remember to use ABC's and Maslow Heirarchy when there is more than one possible answer.

It is a tough exam, but you can do it!!!!!!!

hello, i took my nclex pn to day friday the 9th, it was my 3rd time. i also studied from different nlex books. i tried to be very clam when i was taking the test. it seemed a little easier but i'm scared. i never knew any body that took the test and failed with 85 questions. your forum really made me scared.

i got a lot of sata questions.

the first time i took it i got 200 questions and i failed, the second time i run out of time at 185 ques and i still failed, this time i got 85 ques and i don't know. may be i will know my results on monday and i will tell you what helped me

i pray that i passed i studied so hard for this.

go to www.learningext.com, these are the same or similar questions the board uses. i studied them everyday for 3 weeks. it cost 49.00 try it. i passed the first time. remember, with lpn it is safety, abc's:nuke:

Yep, there are pressures.

I havent gotten close to the exam yet, but might get jittery when getting close to it.

However, my strategy is already based on failing. I will study as I like to pass, but the failing strategy is already in place. That way, I wont feel horribly chocked when the news come. As a matter of fact, I think I may be more scared if I pass.

If not passing, I will study and maybe complement my courses to be better prepared the 2nd time. I may even consider trying a 3rd time, or if something else attractive comes up, I may go for that.

But I will not work as an aide as my knowledge it far above that. If I am not good enough to be a nurse, then they will have absolutely none of my care skills/knowledge. I will completely change career. I am very good at thinking outside the box and can make most things work.

If you like the "nurse" title that much and cant give it up, how about being the family nurse? How many older relatives and friends are out there that can use your nursing skills? Work for your own, in your own time.

There are many other careers that are "nursy". Various types of therapists. A good thing to keep in mind is not to put all your eggs in one basket. If you trip, your will loose a lot of eggs. Play it safe, that is play it so you wont loose too much should things not work our as you like it to. Back up plans back up plans back up plans.

No life is only successes, we have "failures" too. I dont like the word failure though, it is negative. I would prefer to say, gaps in knowledge or a hidden blessing or a different route sign, or a new door opening.

I used Saunders, but I can't say I really studied. Sorry, I know that's not a lot of help. A friend of mine told me what helped her was to look up the rationale of the answers and mark in the book why the right answer was right, and why the wrong ones were wrong. She uses this as a test taking strategy as well and thinks that knowing the rationale has helped her performance.

I see you passed, but I hope this helps someone else!
