NCLEX-PN, HELP ME !

Published

Hello Everyone,

I will be taking my nclex-pn on December 15th here in CA. I wanted to know from anybody who recently took their's what subjects to really concentrate on? Many of my friends who took their's said that they got mostly fundementals, and prioritization questions mostly.

So far I have completed "Saunders Q&A" 2996 questions and im working on my "Saunders Comprehensive" 3700 questions. Im really stressed out now that my test is actually scheduled. I did score in the high 900's on my Hesi the first time around, but im not sure if that states im ready for my nclex.

If anyone has any type of helpful information reguarding my issues stated please leave me comments about it !

Also, if you have any tips for just "first time nclex-pn test takers" in general, let me know.

Thanks.

Moved to the NCLEX Discussion forum. Good luck to you!

i got too many cancer questions and focus on saunders. Good Luck!!!

The tests are individualized. I mean yes, I'm sure there are priority questions. But your friends probably got a handful of those because they didn't consistently get them correct. Same with the fundamentals. That's just how the adaptive tests work. When you get a question wrong, it will come back to you later in the test but not necessarily the same question but somehow the same idea correlated. So just make sure you know your stuff and keep doing your questions. Don't rely on people's feedbacks too much. Remember it's INDIVIDUALIZED. Just keep doing your best to study! Good luck.

Thanks, but they all stopped at 85 questions. So does that mean they failed if they consistently recieved the same type of questions over and over again?

no not necessarily. the test does that to see if you are efficient enough to pass. each question holds a different value. it just really depends. anyways just keep studying!

u are right...

You need to relax. Nobody can predict what your exam will contain. You need to insure that your preparation is well-rounded. Good luck.

Thanks to all so far who have dropped me some tips and they're insight.

I learned in the Kaplan book that the nclex pn is a test of minimum competency to determine if you are able to practice safe and effective nsg care and to always think safety when selecting correct answers. During your test you should eliminate answer choices that use words like explore(bec you are not a psychiatrist), really, why(makes client defensive), don't worry(false reassurance), authoritarian words (nurse being bossy like insisting the client follow the rules). If there are two answer choices left after you eliminated the other two...go with the choice that reflects feelings and provides info. Eliminate close-ended questions(answerable by yes or no).

I hope this helps and you get to read this before the exam. Take a deep breath before each new question and relax. It's just a test, you can take it again if you don't pass the first time. Pray for knowledge and understanding. good luck on your test.
