NCLEX passing

Published

Just wanted to know if anyone here has an idea if we have to pass all sections in the NCLEX or just some?? My kaplan instructor told me we need to pass just 3 which are management of care, pharma and psyiological. But i did some research on it online and I'm reading otherwise. It would be nice to know for sure, I'm taking my nclex in a couple of days and I'm already starting to freak out.

You must pass all sections.

You must pass all sections.

I figured. Did you take it already? And passed all sections?

You must pass all sections.

Would you mind telling what you are basing this information off of? Not saying you are wrong or right.

Thanks! I read it all but it doesn't say if i have to pass all sections. It just said they need to determine that were safe new entry lvl nurse and our scores will be reviewed by them.

Unless I'm missing something, it does not specifically answer the OP's question. I'm interested in where you based your information. I have to reason that this link is not where you found said information.

It's my personal experience with nclex that was later confirmed through a link someone here had posted. I believed that link was what someone had provided me when I had the same question. seems like it's not from reading yall response.

"The NCLEX is not graded in sections - only overall performance on the exam determines your pass/fail status." From the ncsbn website. I was told by kaplan that you did not have to pass all sections

I realize I'm jumping in here, and I did provide a link to the website you need to review for the answers, but here's the specific page:

While your exam is not graded in sections (as in 'section by section'), you must pass all eight testing areas in order to pass the exam. As it states on the referenced site, if you DON'T pass all eight sections/areas, you will receive a CPR that will indicate to you how you were fairing for each area: near passing, below passing, above passing standard, like that. The "overall" as opposed to "grading by sections" really just refers to how CAT testing works; a 95% certainty must be reached overall, but it is NOT a GRADE of 95%. It's a weird system, but there it is.

Since the exam is based on eight areas of nursing....and you must be above the passing standard for each of those eight areas....this should clear it up for you.

Does this help?
