NCLEX!!!! Omg I just took it and it was horrendous!!!!!

Published

I just took it. 75 Questions. I don't feel like there was one question where I was like, "I Know this!!!" I felt like I was at best giving slightly educated guesses. Every question was so hard and obscure. I was a good student in school, did ALL of the Kaplan review (which was over 2000 practice questions when it was said and done) which indicated I was more than ready.

I just feel like crying now and I wanted to cry while I was taking that test. There were questions with 4 right answers and drugs and diseases I have NEVER EVEN HEARD of ever!

The only thing that gives me hope is that since I got no what seemed to be easy questions, that I answered enough difficult ones correctly and that's why it shut off at 75.

Interestingly, I had not one singe math question, nor put in the correct order question.

Well hopefully I find out Monday or Tuesday...

congratulation to loveactually. you are successful just by taking the exam, you never fail unless you give up.

my nurse partner may be returning to sacramento live. i was there two weeks ago and i will be returning to be in their face. my nurse partner

had a job working in a hospital until the board of nursing in ca had her fired because they claim our nursing school was not great. i took the nursing nclex-pn in another state only after act of god by prayers and passed it within 30 minutes. even to this day, i believe this is why some states are just blessed, even hurricanes have to make a detour. my nurse partner and i still believe that sacramento even to this date still discriminates the training, encouraging and the hiring of african american born nurses. so what happen if opra winfrey shows up in sacramento with my nurse partner to be up in their face also.

so just congrats to all of the nurses that were allow to take the nclex-rn.

What Kaplan study does anyone recommend? There are so many options. I cannot do one with a true class because I just don't have the extra time. Graduating in December and really really wanting to pass the first time. LOL - who doesn't??? Thanks.

I recommend any of the Saunder's review books ( Q/A or Comprehensive) if you don't want to enroll in a class. I also highly recommend the Mosby's Prioritization and Delegation Book - this book helped me get into the "prioritization" mindset. I went through this book a few days before my NCLEX exam date. It's a thin book which you can definitely finish in a few days.

I personally didn't attend a paid review class except one that my school provided before we took our exit exam (HESI) last May. I just answered as many practice exams/questions as I could (checking both Rationales AND Strategies) and kept track of my averages. I was doing 50 questions a day couple of weeks before my exam and stepped it up to about 150-200 a day a week before my exam. Also, keep your average above 65% and you should be ok. Nearing my exam date...I was averaging 75 in my practice exams. Good luck!

Your post is very encouraging. I also did Saunders. I did two ENTIRE books of questions. I averaged 75-85% on practice exams. I hope I am good to go tomorrow!!!

It has to be awful. To decide whether or not you are safe to be a nurse after only 75 questions? Those had better be some good questions! When we took it it took two days! I think everyone feels they failed, and everyone has doubts about their answers. CCAC has a strong pass rate. I am sure you were well prepared. My fingers are crossed for you!

I just took the nclex and I have a lots of meds and prioritization only one sata and drag and drop. I have calculations too. I stopped at 75 . I tried the trick in pearsonvue and let me go all the way to confirm.Im here in ca. if my name did not show tommorow on ca bon . ill start studying again.

Yesdog, I'll be praying for you. One last tip.....take your time answering each question...don't worry about the time factor. Chances are you'll not need the 6 hours! : )

Means totally and completely lost in a maze LOL

I am am so glad that your entry popped up on my computer. I took my NCLEX today. I too walked out crying. I graduted form nursing school with honors but when I stepped out of that testing center, I felt I was the dumbest person on earth. I completed well over 2000 questions from 3 different sources in studying. I wonder if prehaps this is another one of those "tests" that prove that we are dedicated enogh to be nurses or to maybe jus sho us our place in the nursing world at the point. I am sure I failed. This test messes with your mind. When question after question comes and I had no clue what is was about or the answers, I started getting discouraged. Well thanks for listening. My family and friends just don't understand.

you are so right about friends and family. the only ones that truly understand are right on here with you. have faith in yourself! and keep on praying! let us know how it goes!!! :caduceus:

hi welcome to the club...... goodluck:yeah:

I just read this post.. and I had to read it outloud to my husband.. He thought I had written it! I said the same things and felt the exact same way! I took the test on Monday and I just found out this morning that I passed!! I could not believe it! The first words out of my mouth were "WHAT?!?!?! It's not possible!!" LOL I was in shock and just started bawling. I keep having moments where I stop to think and again the tears flow. There is no better feeling in the world! I kinda skipped over most of the other comments, so I don't know if you got your results yet or not, but I will wish the best for you.
