NCLEX October 2017

Published

Hello fellow NCLEX takers ... I wanted to start a chat for everyone taking the NCLEX in October ... let's motivate each other. When you need a pick me upper let's check up on each other. What are you using to prepare for the NCLEX? What date in October are you taking the NCLEX? Are you taking NCLEX PN or NCLEX RN?

I'll start with me. My name is Nadia and I'll be taking the NCLEX PN on October 13th. This will be my fourth time to take the NCLEX ... the last time I took the NCLEX was in 2008. I had to take a required refresher course in Florida in order to be eligible to sit for the exam again ... I did that and also did clinical which I absolutely love because I didn't get the same experience when I was in school. I have been using Saunders, just recently completed the Hurst Live Review (which I absolutely loved) and I will be purchasing U World. I've learned so much in the past year and so motivated to start my career. I do work a full time and I am a Team Lead so I have a hectic day almost every singe day. I have no choice but to make time when I get off to study from 7pm until I get tired and that may be 11 pm or 12 am. If I'm too tired to look at the computer then I'll plug in my headset and listed to the Hurst audio and put it in my long term memory as they call it lol. Hoping to hear from others as I love reading this forum getting different ideas from other fellow nclex takers.

Hi DoseofRN,

I also need help in pharm but I'm using nclex mastery and ncsbn . I've taken the nclex once and recognized pharm from nclex mastery and uworld . But I didn't focus much on

Hey everyone, I took my NCLEX-PN on September 6, 2017. I'm waiting to get my quick results tomorrow on 9/8/17. I was so nervous before taking NCLEX. I slept only 2 hours the night before. I got to the testing center and tested with one of my classmates who kept freaking out. He made my anxiety go off the wall. I had 33 SATA, 2 put in order, 1 math, 2 pharm questions and 1 lab value related question. They gave sound proof headphones before I started the test and that helped me focus so much more. I'm the kind of test taker that can't stand any little noise around me because it sends me off track. The security was a lot, I had to get palm printed 4 times , picture taken and phone has to be sealed in a bag then placed in a locker. I had to pat myself down. Everyone at the test center was extremely nice. I got into the testing room and BOOM, started to sh*t my pants. I sat down and did the tutorial and once I put on the sound proof headphones I can hear my heart pounding. I had to tell myself "you got this, you started nursing school at 17 and you will be an 18 year old nurse". Then I clicked and started my test. While I was taking my test in my head I was thinking "well this isn't that hard or I must be really prepared". I had to take a break at 35 questions to just breathe. I came back and started to test again. I looked at my screen and see question 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 my heart is dropping slowly. I clicked next and THE SCREEN WENT BLUE. I was like no way did I finish. Walked out and did PVT got the "good pop up". I've been doing it every since and I'm still getting the good pop up! I just want to let everyone know that you do not have to be an "A" student to pass because I wasn't. I honestly felt that my school tests were a little harder than NCLEX. But we won't know for sure until I get my quick results tomorrow. 🤞🏽🤞🏽 Sorry for the long post, just wanted to ease some of your anxiety.

What did you study with ?

Congratulations ... I love your story and thanks for sharing ... what did you use to study?

I used the 35 page study guide that was floating around. I read the Kaplan NCLEX-PN book. It's a thin book with a test at the end and two tests online. I just didn't like their rationales. I also used ATI just to do questions. But the 35 page study guide is absolutely amazing.

Thank you nady13 for your advice. I did not read Hurst, looks it has the same idea as Saunders. I found Saunders gives extensive pharmacology material that is difficult to remember. So, I want to try something else. May be Mosby's Pharmacology Memory NoteCards. Is anyone use this book?

Hello nadia , good luck to you. I had spoken with you couple months ago.... I been using this review its called HAPPY NCLEX, its amazing its the best thing ever. She guides you on how to answer your question, its worth it to purchase it. I would recommended this to anyone who is struggling to pass nclex.
