Nclex nclex nclex worth a read!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone! I have been on such a journey as all of you have been. Today I took my nclex.. 2/11/13. My computer shut down at 92 questions..I sat there for a good minute in disbelief..that is it? It is OVER? I took my LPN boards 2 years ago..shut down at 85. For some reason I couldn't remember the exam being as stressful to prepare as this one was. I did the PVT trick and got this so called "good pop up"..I hope it works..if not I still want to tell everyone/anyone how I studied

Lacharity~ PRIORITY... who do you see first? This is so important...high level questions are priority! FINISH THIS BOOK! There is NO WAY to tell how nclex will test..if you understand priority...(who is the MOST unstable- not the person that just came back from surgery, not the pt getting discharged, not a person complaining about mild pain- NO! The person with a REAL problem ie., fever, unstable labs, etc.)

Kaplan~ NOT WORTH IT! The exam is content content and more content. Kaplan is so twisted with the questions..I finished the Kaplan course and it was nothing like the exam. Nclex was very direct..(except the select all that apply) If you need content, and never heard of this program READY TO PASS, it is amazing! I live in NY I'm not sure if it's available anywhere else..It is straight content..if anyone wants any info private message me!

SO basically just the priority book, and CONTENT. I had no math, about 20 SATA, 3 drag drop..please if you have seen this before PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look at your infection control..again if you want any info on this private message me!

I want you all to know that I was not an "A" student. I got mostly B's..I struggled through the LPN program. The RN program was better but to be honest, I had to study A LOT to pull my B grades. My scores on Kaplan were all in the 50's (again, questions were NOT like nclex) -- Some people swear by this program. If you want to just practice questions it's ok..Lippincott I feel is much more like nclex. I would google for WEEKS to look for what was similar to nclex. Please don't waste your time on something that will not help you. Yes nclex is random but if you don't know the content you can't answer the question.

I still don't have my official results..I hope the pop up works! Any questions don't hesitate to ask. It's still fresh in my mind!

Hi everyone! Since passing nclex I have been moving at 180 MPH! I had my first interview at a hospital yesterday! I hope I get the job! Now back to NCLEXIA ....as st claire said their is no REAL secret to passing nclex..their are things I focused on more..and things nclex will always focus on (infection control priority) I focused on my weak points (Maternity and Peds) and meds I put everything together in categories..instead of focusing on prils, arbs, ca channel blockers as seperate..I put them all together..they ALL cause hypotension, they all VASODILATE...so if you understand this..then you will get this correct. Again, the LACHARITY book helped me so much. My friend took NCLEXIA the same time as me..her test also tons of priority and infection control..I took my LPN boards years ago..PRIORITY and INFECTION control! I truly believe that if you STOP checking FACEBOOK, wake up each morning motivated to do questions..and study from a GOOD content book (saunders) for at least a FULL 30 days that you can pass this!!![/quote']

I with you that's true. Thank you and you will get the job.

Thanks so much for this post. I'm about 3 weeks away from my exit exam, 11 weeks away from graduation, and about 16-18 weeks from taking NCLEX. I feel so nervous, but also kind of not because I feel that I know my strengths and weakness and plan on studying accordingly.

LaCharirty was recommended by my school in my first year, but I didn't get it because I couldn't afford it at the time. But I've heard from various people who passed NCLEX the first time in under 100 questions that this was their savior so I'm definitely going to get it now. I'm pretty good at infection control now, but I will brush up on that also.

Congrats on the job interview and again, thanks for this post.

Congrats!i'm from NY too..I did La Charity and read Saunders.. I take NCLEX on Monday, hope to hit it this time. God bless us and Good luck!

It's funny how fast these threads deteriorate into, "Please PM/email me at ____."

I wonder it there are Pearson agents on here trying to get people to talk about specific test questions to bust them.

Sorry to thread jack, but i just wanted to point out a trend that I noticed. Please continue.

Pearson doesn't write the test. From personal experience I can tell you that when you come out of the test you do not remember specific questions probably because of the stress. All we have are incomplete memories such as, "I had 20 or so SATA questions". We already know there will be a lot of them, every prep book and course tells you that.

Hey elalay I'm not sure if u live in NYC but I plan on taking ready to pass its located in Long Island I'm hearing some many good things about this review and their content review , are you taking Nclex for rn or lpn

See I feel that this post might scare the potential NCLEX takers out there looking for advice. I took the Kaplan course and feel that it definitely was beneficial. The online practice questions and tests were what I focused on. There were some areas I was scoring in weaker than others and for that I reviewed Kaplan's content in said area. The Lacharity book was great, I agree with that and I did complete all the questions but not the case studies. While there is content on the test I feel the NCLEX tested me more on smart decision making and safety/infection control. I would take a course that supplies A LOT of practice questions but definitely encourage all to make sure you read and understand rationales because that's what guides your thinking process. The main purpose of the NCLEX is to test for minimum competency and they do that by evaluating how much you can think/act like a nurse and is not based off how many disease processes you know. My advice is to take the time you need to review questions and RATIONALES, review weak areas, review the basics (safety, infection control, and labs), take your time and believe in yourself. Know while testing that the right answer is in front of you and you have the ability to determine that answer because you've been critically thinking your entire nursing school career. Believe in yourself and know that someone out there (me) believes in you too! Best of luck friends!!!

Would like more info please. Congrats! [email protected]
