I feel like I'm having REALLY BAD deja vu. I took my NCLEX in January with 265 questions and didn't pass. That was a nightmare. I waited three weeks to get my failing results and got near passing on every section. I just re-tested on 2/28 and AGAIN got 265 questions. Lucky me. I felt just awful after this second test. I took all the time I needed and only had 5 minutes left on the clock! By the time it ended I just wanted to go home and curl up into a ball. The test was even harder the second time. There were priority, delegation, meds, no math, and one multiple choice. There were questions I would read and just ask myself "what?!" Then after reading the four choices I still asked myself "what?!" Man, this can't be happening to me....again! After my first test I called the CA BRN and found out my transcripts were holding up results. Last week I just thought I'd make sure everything was complete...and it is. The person I talked to said I should be getting results "shortly" and "real soon" in a kind of I can't tell you anything directly sort of way. Then I got the mixed message that I should look "in the mail." So anyways it's been 4 update cycles and waiting through the weekend has been the hardest ever....torture really....and I don't want to lose hope. I'm so tempted to call the CA BRN again, but I know I shouldn't harass them. So if anybody has some spare prayers out there for me I could sure use them. I've been waiting for this so long! Any cali fans out there?

It's over. Don't stress over the number of questions. Lots of people pass with 265 questions. Good luck.

Hello,
Prayers going your way!!
Good thing is that the test felt "harder", it would imply that you scored higher in the intial questions where the test took you to more difficult territory, (thus giving you an automatic chance for a higher score!) Those darn computer adaptive tests!!
My fingers are crossed for you!! Try to relax, good luck!!

p.s. my program completes june 2007 and hopefully I will be taking the NCLEX that august

Nate,
I can totally relate to you 100%. I took my test in Jan with 265 questions not for the first time either with not to bad of questions priority a few select all that apply no math a lot of delegate all the ones people say you should get and then.... wouldn't you know today I took it again and I got 265 again. I am pretty sure I got the last one wrong which people say doesn't matter and I hope it doesn't. I felt the exact same way I left in awwww like what the heck was that??? I had so many priority questions I felt like I was starting to 2nd guess myself. You are exactly right it feels like de ja vu. When my fiance asked me how I did I said I take it not that good because I failed last time. Again I know people do say the number of questions doesn't matter but how can we keep our hopes up when we failed last time. But this is a whole new time and we studied harder and learned new and more so I am sure we did. I will be praying for you and best of luck Keep in touch!!!!!

Don't mind how many questions you had! I had a friend who passed at 265 questions. She thought she would fail; however, the result said otherwise.
Hi Everybody and thanks so much for your words of encouragement! I'm not sure what to think anymore, but I find it hard to function everyday without thinking about this stupid test all the time. My husband probably thinks I'm crazy because it's all I ever talk about. It's so emotionally consuming and I'm even having dreams about the exam...now come on...that's really weird! I'm so glad I found this website because I know most of you are going through the same thing and I've seen a lot of support shown here. I'm not super religious, but I'll definitely be returning prayers for all of you. Let's all stay hopeful.

Hi there. Nate2, can you help me to understand what the "passing standard" is? I do not have results yet, but I took 265 questions last Friday. You said "levels"....how is it determined whether you pass or fail at 265? This has all been so confusing to me. I took the CA test in Minnesota, as I am about to move to Sacramento. Thanks, C

You did not take the CA test, there is only one exam that everyone takes, it is a national exam.
You will have your results before you can figure out the passing standard.
It is what the board uses to determine if they consider you safe to practice, nothing more than that.
Hi Redhead,
Just like everyone, I'm not exactly sure what the passing standard is but the computer determines you pass with 95% confidence. Good luck and I wish the very best to you! Go 265!
