NCLEX exam advice

Published

Hello everyone. I am in my final semester of nursing school and I have a few questions that I am hoping can be answered here. First of all, what is a good strategy for preparing for the Nclex? How soon should I start studying and should I use a specific book/class? I also was wondering if my past work history as a nursing assistant will make it harder for me to transition into the nursing profession. I have heard that former nursing assistants have a hard time stepping away from their previous role. Thank you to everyone!

You might get a better response from the NCLEX Discussion Forum. Look into Suzanne's Plan to see if it's right for you. Read through the sticky threads. Good luck in your final semester.:D I think your experiences as a nursing assistant will enhance your nursing career.

I agree, having previous hospital experience as a PCT/CNA will highly enhance your career as a nurse. I know that for me, having that experience has made my nursing orientation much, much easier. At first it was hard to delegate tasks to PCTs and to let them do their part and for me to do my part, but it's become easier. It will also give you a greater appreciation for how hard the PCTs work to meet your needs to care for your patients. You can usually tell if a nurse has previous experience as a PCT - and if they haven't, it is usually a rough relationship among that nurse and the PCTs.

You will do great with the added experience! Best of luck in school and finding a job!
