Help!!!!! Please Help me

  1. Hello everyone, I am a RN 24 years experience. My son just finished an AA program and sat for his boards. Unfortunately he did not pass. I am so concerned. I remember that when I was in his shoes we had to take 5 separate exams and score 350 on each to pass. I was also selected the year I graduated to take the "new" comprehensive exam. This meant I had to go back the next week and take another exam of 500 questions. I thought that was the end of the world for me. The stress and anxiety was tremendous. I came back to the hotel each night in tears and simply sat and rocked my son. My wife was supportive. Now I see that same son hurting because he failed and I want to do what I can to make sure that he passes the next attempt. He attended a Kaplan program already. They told him that he scored "borderline"
I am throwing myself on the network of fine nurses to help me. Please guide me in how to help my son the best. I will do anything. I am very interested in the "Suzanne's plan".

My son told me that he had alot of medications and priority type questions. But he could not give me specifics. I remember many of the questions I had.

You can send me all suggestions to private message box. I would also like to converse with Suzanne the moderator.

I wish all those who are waiting to take their NCLEX and those who have to take it again the most of luck. I know how much stress you are in. I can remember it like it was yesterday.

I have problems that your son does not have. They are administrative and insurmountable. Not your or his problem. You have read about Suzanne's plan. Look on this website. Someone just passed on their sixth attempt. That is basically the answer. Tell him to find out Suzanne's plan, continue to follow it, try again, and keep on trying until he passes the exam. It is as simple and as complex as that. If he can graduate from nrsg school, then he can pass NCLEX. It is that easy. I wish I were in his shoes. Peace.

I know if you could, you would take the test for him and take away his pain.
But as any parent knows, this is his journey and his pain. You can only empathize and be there for him.

However, there is a stickey at the top of this NCLEX forum here that describes a program by our Moderator "Suzanne". Check it out.

I'll say it again. You can't do it for him, you can only suggest and step back and let him make his own decisions and study the way he chooses.

    Good luck!

I did it through Kaplan, and I heard tons of good reviews about SUzane's plan I just didn't have enough time to do it. However I did do about 4000 questions practice before I sat for the exam... so perhaps make sure he practices a lot a lot, and understand the rationale.

Its so nice you take a interest in your sons education. Being there and giving support goes along way. Im currently trying suzannes plan. Maybe that will help us all. The exam is hard work but it does pay off. keep positive and good luck.xx
