failed the nclex 3 times ... NEED HELP

Nursing Students NCLEX

i failed the nclex 3 times and i am loosing hope on passing.

the first time i had 165 questions ... 1 above the passing standard

3 near the passing standard

2 below the passing standard

the second time around i had 265 questions ... 7 near the passing standard

1 below the passing standard

the third time i had 265 questions, as well, but the results haven't come in the mail yet. but i had ALOT of SATA questions ... more than the first two and i thought i had passed but that wasn't the case.

ive look at numerous posts of inspiration about how people that were in the same situation as me have pushed through. i was wondering if any of those people would give me some advice as how you have passed.

i don't want to take the test and fail again. it feels like a burdening weight on me that isn't going to go away until i pass the test.

I think maybe your problem isn't that you are not learning this stuff or that you are stupid. I think it is more likely test anxiety. A LOT of people go into tests and their mind goes blank, this does not mean you are going to be a bad nurse. Try things like meditation, breathing exercises, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend meditation, it will improve the overall quality of your life, your focus, and your ability to remain calm.

Also, I would ditch the text books and come into the 21st century. If you have an iphone/ipad or an android phone, look for good NCLEX apps. Then you can study whenever and where ever you want

I haven't used Kaplan but I like Hurst, it doesn't go too much in depth but it covers the basics. I used Saunders book along with Hurst and that helped me a whole lot

Hi vee! Did u use the CD for Saunders to answer Q's?

Specializes in none.

Yes. After reading any chapter I would then answer questions on the CD

Thank you! How many would you do after the chapter? I've heard great things about the saunders book!

I used Kaplan the first time the thing about it, is that they focus more on strategies to answer questions. Now it is a good class if you know your content without a doubt, but for me i needed a refresher so the second time i did Hurst and i left that class feeling very confident. As for which one is better, I would say they are about the same, its just that they each cater to different needs you may have. So if you are really good with your content then do Kaplan or if you need some help then do Hurst and buy the kaplan book. Just remember this, all the strategies in the world can't help you if you don't know the topics.[/quote']

Hi! Did you do Hurst online review or the live one? I'm pretty sure I'll go with Hurst but I don't know which one to take, the live or online..

i live in hawaii,

there aren't any refresher courses
