Failed pn 1st try feeling useless

I suggest sticking to ONE form of information. Too many sources can easily confuse you since lab values differ among company to company (that's what I've noticed during my studying). Go back to basics and figure out your weak areas. Are you changing your answers? Are you not following your gut instinct? Are you lacking content info? Or is it a mix of some, or all? Knowing your peak levels of alertness and thinking are key also. I happen to be a morning person! Thus my exam was at 8am and while studying I made sure that I was awake, fed, and in front of a book or computer monitoring studying. I look at it this way: Qs are for getting used to taking Qs, learning how to take them, decipher them, and accustoming yourself to sitting for 5 hrs if needed. Remember that every new thing you learn, understand, and retain is a HUGE achievement bc you didn't know it before! Stop being hard on yourself, don't feel rush while practice testing, and formulate a study schedule that you can religiously stick to! ::hugs:: it's not the end of the world…we all have our moments of failure throughout life, but if obstacles didn't occur then we wouldn't be able to become better ppl. Failure is how we learn. Feel better!

Def take ur time to understand the info…it is a lot, it is overwhelming…but the test is meant to measure how SAFE you are with pt care, not how experienced you are. And I have had enough wine for the both of us! lol

My advice would be to do as many questions as possible and look at the rationales. It's all about how to pick and see what the questions ask. All the knowledge is in your head and to review everything would be too much information. Focus on your weak areas. I used Saunders comprehensive PN book and cd and did 150 + questions a day for 2 weeks and passed within 90 questions. If you need the material private message me your email.

You don't need to buy another book. There are plenty of free stuff on the web. Like NCLEX 4000, you could even download Saunders 5th Edition QBank for free via torrent, just search. Quit paying attention to everyone else and focus on what you need to do. I made the same mistake, it's been over a year and I failed twice and was broke & unemployed and all my other classmates were working, passing but hey we all have our own speed in life. Stop comparing, just don't! It's not helping and if anything it just pulls your attention away even more from what you should be doing which is reviewing. Get resourceful! It's hard to fail and disappointing so take some time if you need to. One of my mistakes was rushing into the next exam when I still felt like a failure, mentally, emotionally I wasn't there. After you've grieved pick yourself back up again. Common, you didn't go through nursing school to just give up right? Get your head in the game and move forward. It's the only way.

Find what your mistakes were and focus on them. Was it anxiety? Was it knowledge? Was it test taking strategies? You could even try borrowing review books from others you know who passed and don't need them. Answer a lot of questions, really understand the rationales.

I agree with the previous poster, if you don't have money to spend there are free resources, I love the PN 3500 their questions are awesome and there's over 3000 of them! First take the practice nclex test to see the areas you are weak on and go from there! Also YOUTUBE! Literally there is everything on YouTube even teachers post lessons on there, and google! Google everything you don't remember and words you don't know! Don't give up! If you passed nursing school you can do it, goodluck

My suggestion is go to the library! research your local libraries online they will have nclex books! so free info right there. i had Saunders green book just to look over content i was weak at it had great interventions and explanations didn't like the questions though so i did lippincott for questions and on my test i seen similar questions! (i was too happy) i also did the PN 3500 that the others are talking about and focused on the alternative questions the most. also looked over the study guide they have going around on this site. the more questions i did and the more rationales i read the more comfortable i was with the test, so do questions everyday even if u only end up doing 30 then go back and read content just to make everything is sticking!! @alfredak I have the green Saunders book and CD but Im not reading the book Im just answer the questions and reading the rationals.I actually think the questions in the Saunders book is easier than what was on my PN exam.The book is so big I wouldnt know where to begin studying.One of my nurse friends told me not to be studying from so many different books because they all gone say something different from each other which will really screw me up.Can you e mail me the study guide you have thats going around?I got so many books at home but not enough time to look in them because I work full-time on the 11-7am shift.I been reading 2 chapters a day and now Im starting to understand better but its very time consuming.I feel school was so rushed that I wasnt understanding the information.Thanks for the information and please e mail me the study guide I would love to take a look at it
