Hi Kaikai. Let me guess...studied in the Philippines? So you're saying you just took the NCLEX and officially failed? Or, you just feel like you failed and then registered again with PV to take another test, without even getting official results from CaBON? See, there are specific instruction on how to retake a test, and waiting 45 days is part of it. If you want to know what exactly you should do, I suggest you contact CaBON BY PHONE or go to their Sacramento office. DO NOT email or send them a letter because they DO NOT respond right away. Tell them your situation and they will help you out.

Good luck to you. Let us know any updates regarding your issue.

got my official letter few days ago. i failed. now im scared i may not be eligible to take the boards. do i have to wait 45 days before i'll know if im still eligible or not?

That's unfortunate. So you have 45 days from the time you took the exam to register and pay for another test, which I believe is $150 for retakes. You are allowed to take the exams as many as you can but only after 45 days of the last failed test, AND within 365 days of your permit. So nothing to worry about. Just wait for the BON letter and they will inform you.

But if you made a new payment for a new test with PV, call them to clear the issue..since you mentioned not getting a new ATT. My understanding is that a person would have to have a NEW ATT before taking a RETAKE exam. Best thing to do is call BON or Pearson Vue to clear matters...don't depend on what other people say. And don't forget to write down the full names of the persons you spoke with!

I just retook my exam on Wednesday after failing the first time back in June. You have to put in a new application to the board of nursing all over again but the retest fee is different, I believe it's $80.00 and then you pay $200.00 to Pearson Vue then you wait for a new ATT, just like the first time. Then when you get the new ATT you can choose a new date but it will be a date that is 45 days out from the last exam you failed. Yes you have to wait 45 days but not to put in a new application, the sooner you do it the better because that process can take a couple of weeks alone. Good luck! At the end of the day you can keep trying until you pass, failure isn't the end of the road.

how long before they send another ATT? i already paid pearson vue $200 since i did the pvt trick so it went through but i can't schedule another exam because i don't have ATT yet.

I sent off my new application to the BON on July 12th and paid PCS (Pearson Vue) on July 21st, couldn't afford to do both on the same day. Received my new ATT on August 3rd. I called PCS the weekend prior to receiving my ATT to see if my application was being processed. Then that Monday I received it. Not sure if that played a part but I remember thinking that I had another week and a half to go because that's what they told me over the phone.

In your case since you already paid Pearson Vue you need to send in a new application include the photo (same process as before) to the BON and pay the retest fee. Also I checked with PCS to make sure they still had my transcript and certificate of graduation on file and if I needed to call over to my school and have them resend. They told me no that everything is still on file since I just took the exam in June.

Like I have said, contact CA-BRN, and then Pearson Vue. California Board has a system that may be a lot different from the other 49 states. You're safer talking to them than learning from us...people here come from different states.

Of course you're still eligible. I'm also a foreign grad and 2nd time test taker and I was able to re-take no issues. The problem is it may take awhile to receive your ATT, in my case the California BON was so backed up with cases, it took me over 3 months to receive my ATT for my second attempt. Hopefully yours won't take as long as mine, good luck!

P.s. Sign up for Uworld if you want to pass
