nclex date question

Published

I graduate May 2nd. What is the soonest i can take the nclex? Our school hasnt discussed this with us at all. I would be taking the indiana boards. How soon after graduating can one generally schedule this? I want to take it asap.

Here in KY you have to put in your application to the boards - this takes up to 14 days to verify your background check etc. Then you can schedule your test date. Total time about 3-4 weeks.

In addition to what sonicnurse said, my school had to release my transcript to the state board yadda yadda yadda. Only took a week though. Just proof that you did graduate.

If I could go back, I would have gotten my fingerprints done and mailed in my application to the board with the fee before I even graduated. Contact your state board and ask first, but in most states you can do that before you graduate and it will speed the process when you do! Good luck and congrats!!

The fingerprint check takes the longest. I sent that in a couple of months before I graduated. Graduation was on May 8th. It took a week for the school to send my records to the BON who then told the testing group I was cleared to test. Now here's the fun part. You can take the test at ANY of their testing centers. The centers in my state, Arizona, were booked into May. However, I had a road trip planned so I checked the centers along the route and sat for my exam in Waco, TX on May 19th. They transmitted my score that night and the next day I could see my licence number on my BON website. Woot!

I'm in PA - graduated 12/12/08, filed all paperwork ASAP, took NCLEX 1/8/08 which was the first available date.
