NCLEX comparable to what you studied?

Published

Hello!

1) Those of you who have taken NCLEX-- did you find the questions to be quite like the questions out of your review books? I am studying primarily from Saunders but also am doing questions on my IPOD. I am just wondering if you think they tend to be on a little bit higher of a level than Saunders or if it is about the same.

2)Also, did you get questions from a wide variety of areas? Or, did they tend to test you heavily in one particular area?

I am worried about burns and pediatrics as I feel there is so much to know with these subjects.

I am currently studying for my boards too and the good people on this website suggested the Saunders book (cd rom included) and the LaCharity book. You can buy the Kaplan book to learn strategies in answering questions, although Saunders also covered this. Good luck

From the information I have heard from an educator, is that the Boards usually do not put too many OB or Peds questions in the NCLEX because they are more specialty focused. So I would just say review your book and use critical thinking to answer all questions. God help us all

Took mine today. I only had 1 calculation...Most of the questions were oriented around MEDS and Med-Surg. I had the occasional psych, peds, or geriatric question. Lots of Meds, a handfull of SATA. I was surprised a the low # of SATA questions I got....I *hate* them!!!!

Checked PVT and got the Good Pop-Up! :yeah: I am psyched now!!!!

I have the Saunders Q&A app on my iPod Touch. I think it was around $20? It's very handy. I think it's only compatible with the Touch, iPhone, or iPad.

how u can do the study question on your ipod...??thanks

thanks for the reply..does the ipod needs wifi connection....

I did Kaplan, Saunders and Lippincott's questions. I found NCLEX to be more similar to the Kaplan format than anything else. I passed the test, but I definitely felt like I had failed when I walked out.

I thought the questions were pretty comparable - maybe even a little more straight forward than the questions I studied. I used NCSBN Learning Ext, Saunders, and a little Kaplan.

NCLEX exam is very unpredictable... you don't know what the computer will give you..
