NCLEX California waiting game

Published

I took the NCLEX on Friday 6/17/05 and am now patiently awaiting my

results. :uhoh3:

I had 145 questions on the test and am bursting at the bubble to know my results! My file must be complete because with my IP letter it did not mention that they were waiting for anything to make it complete. A friend of mine received her letter and it stated they were still awaiting transcripts. I'm just sick. I would love some words of encouragement!!!

Sorry, not much in the way of encouragement, but here is some advice from someone who has been there and who is still waiting:

1) Go to your school and get your own transcripts and send them in ASAP (overnight them and then make sure they are recieved). Schools are notorious for not sending transcripts in until very late (as they may be waiting on other students to get grades posted in all classes).

2) Be prepared to wait 10-30 business days AFTER they recieve your transcripts. Yes, this is 2-6 weeeks!

3) Hope that you are not like me ... I took the NCLEX on 05/27/05 and still have not heard anything as they are "processing" my transcripts. And, yes, I sent them in BEFORE I took the test. Two years of nursing school, 75 questions and 30 minutes later ... and I'm still waiting!!!

Go out and enjoy yourself and don't be a slave to checking for your name online. They update every night (only once per every 24 hours) and no updates on Sunday or Monday. They seem to issue 50-80 licenses per day, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I hope you get your results soon ... I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now! Let us know when you do hear anything!

I just found out from an instructor in a review course that the board will mail you a letter within 10 days of taking the NCLEX to notify you of your results. The letter will also inform you of the reason why your license has not been issued (if you passed). Did you receive such letter?

Ugh! I just called the California BON, hoping to get some nice soul who could tell me if I passed or not :). She told me that since I just took it on Tuesday--21st, it is too soon for my name to appear on their site (praying/assuming that it does). Then I asked her if I gave her my SSN, could she check for me :) (worth a try...I'm desperate). She said she has no way of knowing or being able to find out. She also said it can take anywhere from 3-5 weeks for it just to post! What the...

I feel your pain pie123! I never dreamed I would be waiting and feeling this much anticipation every day. Our instructors and former students made it seem like we would find out in 3-4 days. Wishful thinking!!

I understand your enthusiasm to find a solution for both of us but an instructor from a review course can not possibly know how the California BON works, especially considering the time of year, and the THOUSANDS of applications, transcripts, letters, phone calls, etc, etc that they must process. And not to mention all of the staff that has been cut in recent years.

It's a waiting game in California ... guess it's our first test as a nurse ... try to keep calm while in a major crisis! Here's hoping we both get our results soon (I've got my fingers crossed for tomorrow ... )!

Oh, and if one more single person stops me and tells me "did you know you could check online for your results?" ... well, let's just say my patience is running out. My new reply (because I've been saying sweetly "why, yes, I did know and have been checking it HOURLY!) will be "My goodness, I had no idea of such thing! And here I was waiting for a sign from above!".

Okay, please excuse my sarcasm and exhaustion ... I guess I'm just frustrated when most people are dying to find out in 2 or 24 or 48 hours and here's it's been FOUR WEEKS for me. Sigh ...... :o

Sorry but your instructor is wrong in this one. California cannot legally release that information until they have a completed set of transcripts that have been verified. That is one of the main reasons that CA doesn't permit early notification of results. They are one of the only states that will permit a new grad to take the exam if the person's name was on a list from the schools of "expected to graduate."

The big hang-up is not with the BON, but with the actual schools of nursing for not submitting the transcripts in a timely fashion. :o

Thanks...I figured it was too good to be true. Still just wishful thinking.
